Posted March 22, 201015 yr Mostly street / people shots - I couldn't really see much of the parade and was not really in a photo taking mood  If we could get the Arcade to be this full all the time There were about 1,000 Boy scouts participating in the parade. SWAT team just hanging out Those trees at one point had way too many people on them to be safe All the buildings had people peeking through the windows to see the parade
March 22, 201015 yr Gee, sorry to see the weather was so bad and that no one showed up! ;) Nice pictures! I love a parade (couldn't find the Kate Smith version)... I Love a Parade "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
March 22, 201015 yr I was there along with the others comprising the extremely drunk 16-25 yr old contingent.
March 22, 201015 yr :speech: I believe the term is "kickin' it" - http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=kickin%20it
March 22, 201015 yr hey now -- thx i've been waiting for a st pats thread! awesome job -- you really captured being there
March 22, 201015 yr This is a video that BarQuest created of St. Patty's Day this year. It can add the your festive pictures :)
March 22, 201015 yr Best parts of the video were the beggar at 6:27 with the sign "UFO kidnapped my family; need money for space travel" and the hotties at 7:10. Good job! "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
March 22, 201015 yr Why was the Arcade so packed? Its one of the only places with public restrooms downtown. Every wasted tween and 20 something needs to take a leak and the amount of cops handing out "indecent exposure" tickets is enough to scare pee-wee herman.

The people who made this are hilarious and the only reason I know about that video is because I am in it. Sadly, I am not one of the hotties at 7:10. Haha.
March 22, 201015 yr Even though I've never been to this, this looks like the best St. Patrick's Day in Ohio by far. You've never been?! WHAT?! You must experience it at least ONCE! It is so much fun & such a great experience!
March 23, 201015 yr Disturbing, but great shots! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
March 23, 201015 yr Amazing, and wonderful to see that people still turn out in huge numbers for it. I was there in 1979 with then-BF who lived in Lakewood. After the parade we got on the Rapid, where the fareboxes were covered - free ride. At the W117th stop, we couldn't even get to the doors to get off the train. We had to ride clear to Brookpark before we could get off, and then take a train back to W117th. I hadn't expected such a spectacle downtown, and didn't even have my camera with me.
March 23, 201015 yr 4-500,000 in downtown Cleveland having a great time.. I guess misery loves company, right Forbes??
March 23, 201015 yr Lovely photographs. For the record, though, that is by far my least favorite day to be either downtown or on any form of public transportation. I'm like the Grinch That Stole St. Patrick's Day (aka Drunk and Bleeding at Noon Day).
March 23, 201015 yr My wife made the mistake of trying to take my son to the parade last year and rode the rapid down. She said that one guy barfed on the way down and another urinated in the car on the way back home. Wish she would have talked to me first.
March 23, 201015 yr As I read in the PD article as quoted a member of the West Side Irish Club, "If you can make it through a long Cleveland winter, the Irish will pull you out of it and usher in the Spring!" or something like that...

Ha, I think hundreds of JCU students load up and take the rapid down, not too mention all of the high schoolers that are cutting.
March 23, 201015 yr Great photos! Growing up, my siblings and I marched in the parade as members of one of the parade's organizations. So, yeah, there is all the hoopla with the high-schoolers and college kids but a large part of it is a family-based event. I must say... we've been having the luck O' the Irish with the weather the last 6 or 7 years. Almost all of them were bright , sunny days except one I think. As is the case everyday, the sunshine heightens the mood. And more people line the streets for the parade.
March 24, 201015 yr The first St. Patrick's Day parade I've missed in over a decade - thanks for snapping the pics! :-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram

I'm like the Grinch That Stole St. Patrick's Day (aka Drunk and Bleeding at Noon Day). I think the "bleeding" part is overplayed. I have yet to see a St. Patty's Day fight. I only remember seeing one serious verbal altercation (this year). More like Drunk and Lascivious at Noon Day.

My best friend and I had just walked into Panini's on East 9th and the first thing we saw after grabbing a beer was a man with blood coming down his face, a huge gash on his forehead, and a bloody towel being held to his face by friends. It seemed like everywhere we went there was a fight. There was even a fight on the rooftop of Velvet Dog right before we left. That was definitely one place I would never want to see a fight escalade at... especially on a roof.
March 25, 201015 yr Nice! This brings back memorizes of marching in the parade. 3 out of the 4 years it was cold and a miserable experience. Looks like it was pretty warm this year.
