Art, religion link to be explored

By Karen Vance, Cincinnati Enquirer, March 25, 2010

Religion has been expressed in art for centuries.

Over the next month, several Cincinnati institutions will explore the artwork of the world's religions - Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and for the first time in the series' history, Hinduism.

"One of the most potent contexts for art, which has always been a part of art, is the expression and the exploration of the sacred," said James Buchanan, executive director of the Brueggeman Center for Dialogue at Xavier University, one of the series presenters.

Xavier's Williams College of Business MBA programs are ranked among the nation's best

U.S. News & World Report's annual rankings for 2011 include the Executive MBA and several concentrations

Xavier University, April 16, 2010

Xavier University’s part-time MBA programs are ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News and World Report in annual rankings released this week. Several programs in the Williams College of Business were included in the rankings:

• Executive MBA ranked 17th.

• International Business ranked 24th.

• Finance ranked 23rd.

• Management ranked 20th.

Xavier's programs placed alongside such notable schools and programs as: Wharton, Kellogg, Chicago, Duke, Michigan, UCLA, Stanford, Thunderbird, Harvard, MIT, Ohio State, Columbia, Cornell, Illinois and Northwestern.

The rankings are part of U.S. News’ “America’s Best Graduate Schools 2011.” The annual survey covers graduate schools in such areas as business, law and medicine. This is the fifth year the graduate business school rankings have included part-time MBA programs.

“Once again we are gratified that our business school is recognized by our colleagues across the nation as having one of the best part-time MBA programs in the nation,” says Ali Malekzadeh, dean of the Williams College of Business. “Xavier's Williams College of Business continues to excel in academics, and we intend to do even better when we move into our new, state-of-the-art facility later this summer.”

The part-time MBA program is in its 44th year and is offered in weekend, executive and off-site formats. It is the largest part-time accredited program in Ohio. Students in the core evening program complete their studies in about three years as the evening program allows for flexible schedules convenient to working professionals. Students in the weekend, executive and off-site programs usually complete their degrees in two years.

Yes he is, very personable but a damn fast talker. He lives in a student housing complex here on campus.

Xavier U. starts new program for entrepreneurs

By Laura Baverman, Cincinnati Enquirer, June 1, 2010

In its latest effort to develop a top 10 entrepreneurship program nationally, Xavier University's Williams College of Business Wednesday launches a free business consulting program called Xavier-Launch a Business (X-LAB).

X-LAB lends the support of the college's executive advisers and mentors, MBA students and faculty members to counsel Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky entrepreneurs as they develop ideas and launch companies. X-LAB companies will be selected through an idea competition that starts Wednesday and ends July 7.

Xavier University - 2011

--

Got some public information today about East Campus, which is no longer called that because of a bonding issue. The development, loosely defined by Montgomery and Dana in Evanston, will have a groundbreaking in April 2012 and be complete by fall 2013.

Alter Hall will be demolished and under construction during 2013-2014, and be complete by 2015. It will cost around $30 million.
