Just recently visited several new urbanist developments in the Denver/Boulder area including one of the largest of these types of development in the US, Stapleton. While a lot is said and discusssed about these types of developments, they sure are a big step forward from your typical suburban, strip plaza projects that dot the American landscape.

Please note: I try not to take pics of people, but all the project had plenty of people out and about.

First up Stapleton.

This project is on the former grounds of the Stapleton International Airport and is a massive project. I really liked the quality green/pedestrian space and the diverse architectural styles that gave the project a more organic feel.

Holiday in Boulder. Interesting project built on the northside of town near an older industrial area. What made Holiday interesting was it nice mix of live work units, it integration of sustainable concepts, like the community garden and the feeling that it was a real place (not built by disney).

Arista in Broomfield next to the 1st Bank Arena. This project should see more development once the BRT system is completed between Denver and Boulder.

Nice-looking designs. It'll be interesting to see it as it matures and the green stuff grows in.

Don't care for the designs except for Stapleton (love love love that) but great photos and good ideas.

Battery Park without the context.

Interesting concept but the buildings -- while organic, seem rather cheap. But it is a FANTASTIC re-use for the old airfield.

this is awesome im jealous and wish this could happen in the capital or urban sprawl - Cleveland

very very interesting. hard to believe that was once stapleton airport!

yeah everything looks like current off the shelf modern infill, but i do like that its a mix of styles and sizes.

did you happen to visit taxi aka the redeveloped taxi buildings? i read about it, kind of sounds like denver's version of cleveland's tyler village minus the great bones:
