AIDS Taskforce T-shirt aims to spread stigma of HIV too thin to hurt

By Tony Brown, The Plain Dealer, March 25, 2010

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- People are looking at me funny. Funnier than usual. Some sneer or laugh derisively. Some have a kind smile. Most just stare.

Maybe it's because a red T-shirt makes me look pallid. More pallid than usual.

Or maybe it's the bold, black-and-white lettering on the shirt:

HIV POSITIVE

they should also promote other std tee's, like show van gogh, hitler & neitzche in syphilis postive tee's. mmm, ok maybe not!

I saw this this morning, they had a video on Cleveland.com.  I was like "huh, where can I not get one"

:?

I don't want one too!

Doesn't sound like a well-thought-out campaign.

Does Cleveland have a High or Mild HIV/ AIDS rate?  I know Newark does , but its starting to go down at least.

OMG.  ITA - FAIL.

Funny...sad...frightening...I don't know what it is, but it's something.

Just from googling, I found this list of metro area AIDS cases.  It's from '07, but at least it gives an idea:

http://www.avert.org/usa-states-cities.htm

There's probably a better data out there, but I'm lazy!  :-D

I agree. While I don't want to see any disease or affliction carry a  stigma, I would not want to walk around with a tee that says "cancer" anymore than "hemorrhoids" or such.

Huh?
