Thanks for posting, I appreciate it.  That post seems to resonate since it's driving huge traffic today.

Very interesting, makes me want to photograph the better parts of the city.  Sometime I will do a thread on Palmer Woods.

I've always loved the East English Village and E. Outer Drive.  My grandparents house is there and i have such fond memories.  The housing there is largely intact and it will hopefully become an anchor for a new Detroit (not Delta City).

Zach, I was very impressed with your Indian Village series. I think I used at least one of your photos, maybe more.

I'd recommend a map of the nice neighborhoods to counteract the now famous maps of abandonment.

I really need to figure out how to get to Cleveland so I can check that city out.

I worked in downtown Detroit and took masters classes there for my urban planning degree.

Definitely some shining areas in Detroit including Palmer Woods & Indian Village but even those are getting rough around the edges.  My wife & I used to drive through Palmer Woods all the time and admire the beautiful homes.  Then we started to see some with tarps on the roofs, garages crumbling, overgrown bushes & lawns, paint peeling...  Indian Village is the same.  Certainly aint what it used to be.  Some good points in the article though, mainly just how HUGE Detroit is, and also how much wealth is still in the metro area.  I think some of the suburbs like Grosse Pointe & Birmingham & even parts of Dearborn are some of the nicest areas I've ever been.

Hah!  I live in Chicago - the route is even easier.

I'm going to be in Cincy in a couple weeks.  Hopefully I'll be able to hit Cleveland late spring/early summer.
