Posted April 23, 201015 yr Xavier University April updates I love working for a university that is undergoing such rapid change to embrace the needs of a modern, 21st-century campus. With these latest construction projects, just as part of the Hoff Quad, the university is expanding its available floor space by nearly 30%. The new dormitory and dining complex, which is not part of the Hoff Quad, is bigger than the Hoff Quad buildings combined. We begin yesterday's tour of the Hoff Quad in the Conaton Learning Commons' computing lab on level 2, which we accessed via the library. The Learning Commons' will feature a 200-seat auditorium, the Center for Teaching Excellence, the Center for Student Excellence, the Conway Institute for Jesuit Education, academic labs, technology-driven classroom, study rooms, a student computing lab, technology training room, digital media lab and more. The lobby -- Magis Plaza -- for the Conaton Learning Commons is very impressive, with rich wood accents on the ceiling and nice flooring accents. This connects to the library. This is a specialized classroom that will feature a one-way window for observers to peer into the class. Performance space within the distinctive tower provides space for student, faculty and community art displays and presentations. The tour continued at the new Williams College of Business, which will feature a unique trading room stocked with the most Bloomberg terminals of any university in the United States, the Center for Applied Finance, technology-driven classrooms, workrooms, multimedia centers, advising suites, computer labs, faculty and staff offices, executive conference rooms, the Cintas Center for Business Ethics and the Sedler Family Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Trading Room Conference Room Computing Lab Two large steel "X's" are being constructed and will hang in the window. We ended the tour with an update to the new dormitory and dining complex that is advancing quickly.
