Posted May 6, 201015 yr Are there any running clubs in the Cleveland Heights/Shaker Heights/University Circle area? I see a few posts on biking, so seems like there may be a biking community, but nothing on running ~ Anyone know of one? So glad the folks at city-data sent me here....you guys have been AmAZinG
May 6, 201015 yr not completely sure but you can look here. http://www.hermescleveland.com/sportandsocial/index.php they put on a lot of the 5k's and such around town... Maybe go to a 5k and talk to the folks running it or running in it. On the west side ( Rocky River) there is a shoe store, second sole, that is pretty much all about runners and running, there might be something similar on the east side.
May 6, 201015 yr ^Funny, I was looking for the same thing recently and didn't come up with much on the web. There's awesome jogging in the Heights along the parkways and ponds. Only things I could find were the Cleveland West Roadrunners club (www.cwrrc.org/) and the Cleveland Southeast Runners Club which looks to operate further out (http://www.southeastrunningclub.org/GroupRuns.htm).
May 6, 201015 yr There is a Second Sole in Lyndhurst and they do have group runs. http://www.secondsoleohio.com/lyndhurst.htm I thought that there was a group that met at Shaker Lakes one day a week as well, but I can't find the link now. Maybe someone else knows about it. Since the question has been asked, there also are a number of other running clubs in Northeast Ohio. Second Sole in Rocky River http://www.2ndsole.com/ Cleveland West Road Runners http://www.cwrrc.org/ Cleveland Hash House Harriers (running and drinking club - lots of fun for the young) http://www.clevelandhash.com/ Cleveland Southeast Running Club http://www.southeastrunningclub.org/ Northeast Running Club http://www.northeastrunningclub.org/
May 6, 201015 yr The Crooked River Trail Runners run through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park on Thursday evenings. They usually meet somewhere near Peninsula and have drinks at the Winking Lizard afterwards. They do 3-5 mile runs each time. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=94283380151
May 6, 201015 yr Wow, thanks Foraker and tradition7 for the links- I can't believe I missed all those groups when I searched.
May 6, 201015 yr Great, Great!!...thanks for the links all. My search didn't turn up with any of these Looks like the Lyndhurst one would be closet....if I get any info on the Shaker Lakes one, I'll pass it on
May 7, 201015 yr I realize you're asking about running clubs, not hiking clubs, but just in case you're interested: http://www.clevelandhikingclub.org/ Also, if you are interested in social biking, check out: http://www.ohiocitycycles.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=20-saturday-safe-social-ride "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

EDIT: FlygalH2K, besides Shaker Lakes, one of the best places to run is Lakeview Cemetry is University Circle. I know it sounds weird running though a cemetry, but it is very scenic with winding sidewalks and hills.
May 7, 201015 yr 1 2 1 Fitness in University Circle has a running club, and I'm pretty sure you don't have to be a member of the gym to participate.
