Regardless of socio-economic status, leaving behind garbage and litter when there are free to use garbage cans provided by the parks department is not okay, especially for adults.

This only encourages other bad behavior and drives off people from using the park. No one wants to hangout in a dirty park.

I didn't visit when it was closed to vehicles, but I heard that closing that street solved a lot of the disorderly conduct issues. There was momentum to keep it closed, then some people complained that the closure was racist and got it reopened.  That's going off of word of mouth and a few articles from local news stations last year.  It's in an embarrassing state right now, and if closing the street fixes that, then it needs to be done.

That said, people need spaces to congregate and socialize, and just because it's loud and there's trash doesn't mean these people should be exiled.

No one said they should be exiled. They should respect the environment around them and the people around them.

Evidently they'll also demolish the building housing Hi-Fi (former Alive One space) for the condominium.

Also, appears a new home is being built on the empty lot at the SE corner of St Paul & Pavilion.

Evidently? Is this some kind of sneakernet operation where the plan is getting discovered one bit at a time as somebody drops off floppy disks with 1.44mb of the blueprints?

Playhouse in the Park surpasses campaign goal for $50 million main stage theater complex

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park celebrated the completion of a capital campaign today with a ribbon cutting for its new main stage theater complex and the announcement it exceeded the project's fundraising goal.

The $50 million project, which began construction in 2021, attracted $51.3 million in funds.

Moe and Jack's Place – the Rouse Theatre and Schueler Lobby officially will open March 16 with an all-new production of "A Chorus Line." The new facility is more accessible and enables the Playhouse to host pre-Broadway productions, so shows that premiere in Cincinnati could go straight to Broadway for the first time ever.

"You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers

I don't know because that's not my industry, but for the folks who are familiar ... is there not a better aesthetic looking option that also meets the safety requirements other than a chain-link fence?

I mean, there are better "options" but they likely aren't cheap:

The final aesthetics have yet to be determined but that will be up to the City of Cincinnati aka how much they are willing to spend on it to make it look good. We should use the Wasson Way bridge over 71 as a local and recent example of what not to do.

ODOT has posted an update to the project website. They are using a wire fence, similar to the fence on the new Kennedy Avenue bridge, instead of a chain link fence. The bridge piers will also be made to imitate an art deco style. There are a few questions where people can weigh in on some of the design elements that can still be adjusted but it sounds like this is pretty much locked in as they want to knock it out before BSB corridor starts up.

These clowns can't make anything that looks good.  Thanks for junking up the whole state.

Great, another thing from Airborne gone

in 2010 the population of mt. adams was...1491.  it'll be crowded, windy and wet. but a great place to watch labor day fireworks.

Cincinnati Art Museum unveils $9.5M ground-level renovation

By Nikki Kingery – Projects editor, Cincinnati Business Courier

Dec 6, 2024

The Cincinnati Art Museum has unveiled the results of a yearlong renovation that creates more resources, amenities and accessibility for the community.

The ground-level improvements – covering nearly 14,000 square feet at a cost of $9.5 million – incorporate spaces that have been unused for many years, such as former offices and the old museum cafe.

“The new amenities for our visitors and public represent the central work of an art museum: connecting communities and inspiring people through the power of art,” Cameron Kitchen, director of the museum, said in a news release.

Not sure why they are so against it. It’s literally right across from Eden park where there is loads of green space.

Wow, I can't believe I'm quoting something so old but the city is finally taking steps to purchase this property. City council will be asked asked to approve an emergency ordinance authorizing the administration to apply for an OPWC grant, the Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Program. The grant request will be for up to $194,990, which requires a 25% local match of $48,748. The Cincinnati Park Foundation will be donating $107,835 for the purchase of the property so the city itself will not be spending any of their budget. CPF had a page on their website dedicated to fundraising for it but it looks like it's unlisted/archived. The ordinance does not go into any details of what improvements will be placed on the parcel but I suspect it'll just be a pocket park, given how little funds would be left over from the donations. The current owner purchased the land from the Cincinnati Art Club for $182,000 in 2021. I'm curious why they would choose to sell it for less than $200k given how expensive everything is around it. The auditor's site assessed it at $293,490 for 2023.

Construction for this has started. Prus won the contract which was bid out for $9 million but was awarded closer to $13 million. Scheduled completion date is September 30th, 2026.

EDIT: Construction has started 12 months ahead of schedule. It looks like RoW acquisition went a lot faster than anticipated

Being a little pedantic here but what is "made to imitate an art deco style"? Wouldn't that just be art deco?

I think it'll be obvious what they mean when they are done. It'll have some features that are art deco styled but the majority of the bridge is just a generic, modern bridge.

ODOT only builds good-looking bridges by accident. If they're "going for something", they're going to mess it up.

ODOT's project management system says a completion of September 30th, 2026, but the project website says October 2025.

It's only real Art Deco if it comes from the Art Deco region of France.....
