My loft unit is 1,050 square feet. There is two adults and a basset hound living in the space. Does anybody have a good place to look for cool space saving and storage ideas? I've googled around a bit and have only found minimal useful tips. My dwell magazines have great ideas... if I was pulling in 4 to 7 million a year.

Thoughts? One thought is to get rid of more stuff, I've purged a good deal already, hard choices were made, at some point, your cutting bone instead of fat, though.

Get rid of the other adult. Keep the basset hound.

Problem solved.

WW, I wish I had some of your problem; we have 3K sq. ft. not including the finished basement which makes saving space less urgent :-\ Believe it or not, those vacuum bags (where you fill them up, then attach a vacuum to suck out the air and compress the bag and contents) do a good job for things like linens, comforters, sweaters, etc.

I've always liked this set up from Crate and Barrel - I have a small desktop but this would be even better if you only use a laptop: http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=1101&f=34865 I'd also suggest a coffee table that has storage - not just a drawer, but additional flat surfaces other than the top http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=985&f=34781

For conserving closet space, I swear by space-saver hangers. I got some at Target; only thing I'd advise is to use them for shirts and lighter-weight pants; jeans, coats might be too heavy.

Ooo, me, me!  I am the queen of cramming things into small spaces since I am not all that far out of college :).  Are you utilizing all of your under-bed space with the under-bed Rubbermaid/Sterilite/Whatever brand containers?  Are you utilizing all of your wall space?  They make some pretty rugged wall systems nowadays to hold a lot of weight (for example, Elfa from the Container Store).  Are you utilizing all of the vertical cabinet space in your cabinets?  There are plenty of in-cabinet shelves available on the market today to maximize your cabinet organization.  I could probably go on for hours, lol.........

Also, Ikea catalog has good ideas for this, go online and order their catalog, it's free.

I say build more closets!  LOL.

Peg-boards

I say build more closets! LOL.

Yeah, I think we may be doing that.
