Posted May 31, 201015 yr Sunrise Sun is up and lights on the Key Tower would turn off in about 10 seconds Walking on a cool spring mid-morning on Public Square, I couldn't resist this shot. All I remember is the dog's name "Bella". I don't know what the table set-up was for. Blossoming trees on Public Square Fog rolling in off the lake headed down E. 9th St. A mountainous cloud as sunset nears on the US Courthouse Plaza Just after nightfall, this is the "Flower Moon" full moon on May 27 Flower Moon in the middle of the night is now over the West Shoreway New way to get to the top of the Terminal Tower? I got this wacky idea to try this... Some back-and-forth... The bit of building on the left is the Stanley Block. Even though it's grittily(?) cool, it'd be better restored Friday May 21 at 7:57 PM At 7:59 PM
June 1, 201015 yr awesome. fyi, stanley block is on the endangered species list (though nothing imminent). If you want to make your voices heard I suggest contacting the councilman (cimperman) and landmarks.

Possibly the casino? I understand that the building has been deteriorating for years, but it must be one of the last from the early days of the Central Market area, I would think. Here's a picture of floors 2,3 and 4.

The worst part is that there was a small developer who had been working dilligently at getting a hold of this for redevelopment and was close to obtaining the building... until the casino location was announced. Now the owner is looking at the "most productive use" of the "property". Sigh. I have a feeling one of the biggest preservation battles we're going to face over the next 5 years will be keeping this entire block from turning into a parking lot between E. 4th and the Casino. Seriously... Cimperman... Landmarks. Start now.
June 2, 201015 yr ^It wouldn't be the first time that block has been slated for redevelopment. This is from Richard Fleischman's book and I believe this was a proposal for Gateway. June 3, 201015 yr Thanks McC and MayDay for the FYIs. I will be wanting to contact the necessary parties on this one (Stanley Block). Maybe I'll be lucky enough again to see Cimperman at the Lakewood Aladdin's hostess stand/cash register picking up his carry-out. If so, I won't keep quiet... I'll be ready with questions and concerns this time.

Seriously... Cimperman... Landmarks. Start now. Also, the Columbia Bldg and the Stanley Block are incredibly close together. Didnt quite realize that until i revisited this thread. And this pic I took last May. The bottom half of the fire escape is now removed and the windows have been reinforced with plywood. I get the feeling the Stanley Block is staying. I hope I'm right. Now, however, the Columbia is sending out an S.O.S.

April 1, 201114 yr I could be wrong, but I don't think that structure is related to Rosetta. Pretty sure Rosetta is moving to the connected building that faces Short Vincent, not the Holiday Inn Express Bldg.

April 1, 201114 yr No, the Maron's penthouse (which is an incredible space, btw,) is on the original top floor of the building and has been finished and lived in for some time now. The penthouse for Rosetta was built on top of the roof of the building, adding an additional floor on top of that.

So I guess the original question remains.... Its been there a while and Ive been asking about it for at least 3 years, but have never gotten an answer. Maybe the Maron's started it as an additional level to their penthouse, but thats as far as it got..? *For clarification purposes.. The Maron space is what looks like it was an additon to the top at a previous point (below the metal structure with the big windows). The Resetta space is on a different part of the building (back side), same building or connected building I forget....
