Posted June 8, 201015 yr I am with Cincinnati Bell. I am going to take a trip and I will be gone for 10 days. I have a business which I run over the internet and I like to stay connected. I thought about buying a month's worth of tethering from Cincinnati Bell. I will be gone from June 15-June 25. Our billing date is June 20. So, Cincinnati Bell would have to charge me two months worth of tethering instead of one because I would be using it before and after the billing date. No, they will not change my billing date. I thought the answer might be for me to buy Tether (used to be "Tetherberry") and use that. Does anyone know if that works on Cincinnati Bell Blackberry? Will Cincinnati Bell charge me out the ears for using it if they find out that I did? Or am I relatively safe on all fronts? Have any of you used Tether with Cincinnati Bell? How did it work? Thanks for any insights you have on this.
June 8, 201015 yr They should pro-rate the charges so that if you only use it for 5 days in a month you only get charged like 1/6 of the monthly charge.
June 8, 201015 yr They don't though. It isn't a daily plan. It's an all or nothing monthly plan, just like if you change you minutes halfway through the month.
June 8, 201015 yr Yea, sad to say it is a monthly plan. It depends on you billing date, too. So, since I will span two billing months, I will be charged twice for 10 days worth of tethering. Phfffft.

June 8, 201015 yr On some things they do pro-rate. I guess a better example would have been text messaging. If you have a texting plan a the beginning of the month, remove it halfway through the month, you effectively never had a texting plan that month.
June 11, 201015 yr Well, to refine the original question: I was going to purchase Tether and use it on my Blackberry. I went to their site and found a scary set of e-mails where a person tethered their phone and was presented with a very large bill by their local Bell company. They are really pissed about it all. Have any of you heard anything like this? Does Tether work for your computer with Cincinnati Bell or have you gotten a nasty surprise?
