Posted June 20, 201014 yr Friday was so beautiful, I decided to take my camera with me to work. Outdoor seating is just starting to become popular. We still have people complaining that we're losing sidewalk space. Lunchtime walk: by Robert A. M. Stern Because hundreds of people are employed in this building, much of the street life seems to be concentrated around here. A new ice cream parlor recently opened in this building. (far left entrance) After work, I stopped by Fellows Gardens. I got a few pictures, but there were multiple weddings, wedding rehearsals, and photo sessions going on. Because I'm a nice guy, I didn't want to get in the way, so I didn't stay long, and didn't get to see everything I wanted. Maybe I went a little overboard with the flowers... Hope you enjoyed!

June 20, 201014 yr Wow you got some of the best places in Youngstown all in one post! The downtown is really impressive with all the old historic buildings.
June 21, 201014 yr This place has so much potential to be one of the best walkable communities...the downtown is easy to walk and compact. Would like to see more investment in downtown. My favorite place.. "Pig Iron Press" Say hello to Jim V! He was working on a book about the Mahoning River. I contributed something to it but I don't know if it was ever published? The book, that is....and speaking of rivers, one of the impressive things about the Mahoning is that it still has so much healthy riparian zone intact.
June 21, 201014 yr "Hope" we enjoyed?!? Are you kidding?!? I *loved* it - especially the rose garden at Fellows. For one reason or another, I'm never able to get over that way when the roses are in bloom. Great set all around! :-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
June 22, 201014 yr Thanks for the comments. Not all steps are forward, but generally, I think downtown is moving forward, and coming back quite well. EC, stop by the Lemon Grove next time you're in town. I think you'd like that place, too. MayDay, glad you liked the rose garden pics. I was afraid I went a little overboard with the flower closeups.
June 22, 201014 yr Great pics of great old buildings against a pure, clear sky. Now I'm bummed that I won't be in Youngstown until the next CYP rail meeting July 8. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
June 27, 201014 yr Nice shots! Despite its problems, Youngstown has so much going for it. I just hope they can get things turned around before they lose too much more of their historic infrastructure. The downtown buildings that they've kept are impressive, some for historic value and some for sheer massiveness for a city that size.
