As of today I accepted a prelim verbal offer to be the new Community Planner with Cranberry Township, PA. Though ideally my search would've landed me in Ohio, I am excited and happy for the opportunity.

Any information, advice, or suggestions, in terms of re-locating, would be appreciated.

Congrats Johio! Yes, move somewhere where you can have the option of taking the PAT 13K bus route to work.....

And since you are going to be working in area where there's lots of TechBelt businesses, I hope you and I can talk more about what's in this report.....

Newly released report on the economic opportunities of CYP passenger rail

All Aboard Ohio has released a new white paper on the TechBelt thematic economic development benefits of passenger rail development in the Cleveland - Youngstown - Pittsburgh Corridor. The report is for general distribution and sharing, so feel free to distribute this document to others....

And, yes, we certainly do have a thread about this subject here at UO...

My deepest condolences, J.

Cranberry = sprawly, but you knew that already.  If I were you, I'd pick Lawrenceville or downtown.  Easy highway access, urban neighborhoods, etc.

Yep. I suggested someplace on the 13K route because, even if I plan to drive to work everyday, I always want to have contingency option of getting to work. I've never lived anywhere without having a transit option available. And when Cleveland RTA cut my one-seat ride to work last year, I quit my job. But that's my little quirk...

The South Side is an excellent urban neighborhood, though I think it is fairly expensive.  I don't know about transit connections.

CONGRATS!

Bainbridge? :)

Bainbridge? :)

What are ya, a lawyer? OK, when I had the ability to choose where I wanted to live I always chose places where I had options..... I lived at my parents house in Bainbridge before 1993. The sad thing is, we moved in 1978 to our house in Bainbridge that was a half-mile from the Geauga Lake train station that was a stop on the Erie-Lackawanna commuter train between Youngstown and Cleveland's Union Terminal. The train stopped running in 1977.

But anyway......

A little bit of both.  Check the internet for interesting deals and actually go there to see if they hold true.  And I'd imagine $650 is a good price for a good place there.  Pittsburgh's MSA (last I checked) is "cheaper" than Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus, etc.

So what part of the metro did you land in?

I hope you keep looking. There's some cool areas in Sewickely and the the Old Economy Village of Ambridge. That's not too far from Cranberry.
