Cincinnati

Part 1 - Downtown

Part 2 - OTR and UC

Part 3 - Clifton and City West

Part 4 - Mt. Adams

On the second day of my trip, my friend and I went to Clifton. We were also going to go to Union Terminal, but I didn't want to pay for parking (or for getting into the museum, I am a cheap college student) so I just took a picture of it, drove towards downtown, and stumbled upon the City West development.

  Nice photos.

You don't have to pay to get into the rotunda at Union Terminal, and it's worth the effort even if you walk from the street to save parking costs.

Great set! I love Clifton, definitely one of my top three favorite neighborhoods in Cincy.

Oh, well, now I will know that for next time, thanks!

Thanks! I also really liked Clifton. There are a lot of unique shops and the neighborhood is beautiful (and there is quite a bit of eye candy too :-D)

Thanks!

Clifton is nice quirky area.

I love City West, it never really got much media attention for how much work and investment went in there.  I really wish that old theatre could be renovated as well.  Great shots.

Thanks!

Can you not come up with something more unique?!?

Awesome!

I can, but then I'd delete your post.  Now that would be unique.

On this note, there's free 15 minute parking in the driveway up by the entrance.  Great if you just want to peak in for a quick look and a few photos.

Neat stuff! Those are some parts of Cincinnati I haven't yet visited.

Thanks, and you should definitely check those places out. I wish I would have spent more time in Clifton, it is a really cool neighborhood.

Very nicely done, as in the other threads!

City West... parts of that look like they belong in the suburbs, and there's just something off about the more urban-looking sections too. But design aside, has City West been reasonably successful, Cincy folks? Is it finally complete? Been a while since I last read up on it.

I speculate that one of the things that makes parts of City West look suburban is lack of mature trees; that's characteristic of subdivisions built in the middle of farm fields. Give the trees some time (twenty years at the very least) to get some size and for residents to give the homes individual character with their own landscaping, and probably it will take on an entirely different, more established character.

^ Good point. Time will make a difference. Not sure about some of those front lawns, though!

Last I heard, the whole idea of it being a mixed-income neighborhood wasn't too successful.  The market rate units aren't selling, even though it looks pretty and is a great location with amenities, it is still perceived as public housing by most people, and no one wants to pay market rate to live in public housing…

The mixed use portion is a disaster.  I don’t think any of the storefronts along Linn are occupied currently.

Here's the thread on it, if you're interested: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,1743.120.html
