John Hay is by far Cleveland's highest ranking high school: http://www.greatschools.org/ohio/cleveland/432-John-Hay-High-School/ Ironically many Cleveland's top schools are in University Circle: John Hay, Cleveland School of the Arts, Lyceum, and Montessori High School. The only onther ones are all private: St. Ignatius, Cleveland Benedictine, Villa-Angela St. Joes.
September 22, 201014 yr Author So how does enrollment work for John Hay? Do you have to have a certain GPA
September 22, 201014 yr Author are there any walking tours of university circle? i would really like to go on one

September 28, 201014 yr Maybe Sutton Industrial Hardware on Prospect? Is that place still open? If not, you may have to go to Home Depot at Steelyard.
September 28, 201014 yr Sutton's can copy most keys, and there is also another place on Prospect closer to CSU that can copy almost any type of key you give them
September 28, 201014 yr there's a key place on st clair around E 18th I believe. So I looked at my keys to check how many I want to make a copy of and what do you know? Cleveland Key, 1628 St. Clair stamped right on there! That seems to be the closest - thanks!
September 28, 201014 yr A little trick I used when renting for keys that say "do not duplicate" on them. Take a piece of masking tape, cover it up, and write something like "back door" on the piece of tape. It works everytime :)
October 17, 201014 yr Hessler Court. In University Circle, just north of Euclid between Hessler and Bellflower.

November 5, 201014 yr Author What is this land and is there any plans for it. there used to be a building on it. http://tinyurl.com/2dxtrex
November 5, 201014 yr I believe what you are referencing is the public space south of Marginal and north of the Route 2 exit ramp at E. 9th. First, it is a rather small lot (or at least really thin) and construction may be cost-prohibitive and/or legally precluded due to its proximity to the shoreway (construction usually is not "built up to highway"). We have discussed possible projects for the land immiedately just accross Marginal to the north, but nothing for specific parcel you are linking us to, I believe.

I meant north of the marginal. sorry if it was unclear. I thought there was an arrow pointing to it in the link i posted.
November 5, 201014 yr You can read this thread - http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,17285.0.html - from the "Abandoned Projects" forum. Nothing happening at the moment which we know about.... and you KNOW we would know about it if there was something in the works.
November 10, 201014 yr Here is a question... A couple weeks ago, it looked like something was planning on happening at the old Centrum Theater at Coventry. Are there plans to re-open this into some kind of theater again? I used to love this place.
November 10, 201014 yr ^It looks like it is strictly doing standup comedy gigs now. http://www.pluggedincleveland.com/events/41541/big-dog-theater-grand-opening-celebratio.html
November 12, 201014 yr There is a piece in this month's Cleveland Zoo Member magazine about the clean up of Big Creek and one of the graphics accompaning it is a postcard for Brookside Park from the early 1900's. It has a picture of the park and the name of the park and city with the Cleveland labeled underneath as "The Sixth City". Anybody have any idea what that means and what the other 5 cities are in reference to? Or what that means in general, it looks like some early attempted to brand the city. Link to a postcard, not the one in the article but of the same vintage and style, just a different shot of the park.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mytravelphotos/2769056193/# Edit: Duh, google is my friend. http://urban.csuohio.edu/sacredlandmarks/csl/1910s.html
November 12, 201014 yr ^ I think it meant it was the 6th largest city in the nation. Yes, that is what it meant. See the link I put in my edit. Apparently it was a huge deal and they touted it for a while.
November 15, 201014 yr ^ Big thread about that here: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,17327.0.html

November 22, 201014 yr ^^Sorry. 1st sentence was correct. 2nd sentence should have said Chicago after they merged with Amaco? ^Right When British Petroleum merged with Standard Oil of Indiana (AKA Amoco), they moved the Americas HQ to Chicago.
November 23, 201014 yr Author Whats the farthest distance in which you can still see downtown Cleveland? The farthest that I have seen is from route 90 in Eastlake Ohio
November 23, 201014 yr ^ Are their any home grown companies that just decided to leave for the south or the west? In 1979, Diamond Shamrock, a large petro-chemical company that was the first tenant of the office building at the SW corner of 12th and Superior, moved its offices to Dallas. Through subsequent mergers, it's now part of Valero.
November 23, 201014 yr Whats the farthest distance in which you can still see downtown Cleveland? The farthest that I have seen is from route 90 in Eastlake Ohio You can see it from the top of the hill in the Chapin Forest reservation. Might be farther east, depends on where on 90 you're seeing Cleveland. Amazing view BTW. Nice shot of Cleveland + the lake.
