I was at a seminar and we had a similar issue with wifi freezing during that time. That's why I went outside actually.

Should we move this to the conspiracy thread?

You're sure of the time? The only thing I could find online was this conspiracy theory message board where someone posted the same topic but at 12:06pm yesterday when he said it just happened. Two fighter jets in formation, over Cleveland. http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message3647644/pg1 Seeing other message boards always reminds me of how much more civilized this one is compared to almost all of the others.

^ Yeah it could've been around that time.

Did anyone hear the Fighter Jets downtown? I happened to be walking outside of CSU to classes, and something loud flew over my head... couldn't have been a commercial plane. I was also sitting in the business building about an hour later, and there was some loud rumbling going on outside for quite a while.

Does anyone have any knowabouts of why they're here and what type f-16, f-15, f-18?

I saw a couple helicopters flying in what appeared to be formation the other day, though I honestly can't recall if I was leaving work and they were flying towards CGF, or home and they were approaching Burke.  Didn't think it was a huge deal, AF reserves practice all the time.  Isn't there an F-16 wing near Painesville?

I saw that, too.

They may have been testing their jamming equipment. The wifi at CSU died for a little while after I asked that question... Sounds like North Korea's 80s phone service will be disrupted for the little coms they have... HAH

I believe the closest fighter wing is the 180th, connected to Toledo, OH... they have the F-16.

It was always my belief that there were jets at Ravenna Arsenal as well. There are certainly helicopters and bombers.

Lucky for us, Cleveland got to be their guinea pig for electronic warfare and have our satellite communication blocked. I wonder if they figured, "meh...it's a big city but not much going on, so lets test it in Cleveland." Imagine the outrage if they did that in NYC where stocks are being traded every second.

North Korea has 2 satellites in orbit. They probably plan on blocking them from whatever frequencies they operate on, once we enter WW3.

I wonder if Sirius/XM and other communication companies got a heads up on this from the military. They probably  got bombarded with tens of thousands of calls to customer service all at once.

Why not test an EMP over lake erie? that would be great....

You people watch too many movies.

I was downtown for work on Friday and wow did it stink.  There have always been isolated areas with sewer problems but never this widespread.  It was getting reactions from tourists.  Is this caused by some project that's going to end?

HEY UO FAMILY MEMBERS NEED SOME GUIDANCE...

I just put a hold on an apartment at the Guernsey Building at 2836 Franklin. I'll have street parking which has been the only downside I can deduce so far. Can anyone give me some further insight into the location that I should/need to know about? I have 72 hours to cancel the hold. Thanks guys!!!

I lived in the WV Building down at Bridge and W28th for five years. Location can't be beat in my opinion. Don't keep a single thing of value in the car though. I was broken into and had the car stolen once. Chalked it up to City living.

*Gulp* *Breathes heavy with hand on chest*

Don't let him scare you Yabo, I have friends that lived in that building and loved it. The whole area is gorgeous and you can walk anywhere. Have fun!

I've been noticing this alot too lately, especially down in the Flats, both east and west. I'm hoping when the new pump house is built, it will help clear that up.

Could the lack of rain lately be having an effect on this?  I assume that when it rains it helps flush out the sewers.

Ditto for the new hood east of Battery Park. I'm sure it's not always the case, but when I chose to bike through there last week it wasn't a great decision.

That's exactly what's happening.

Looking for help everyone...

So, I am doing my best to stick to my $900 budget, which has proven difficult as of late. Here are my options as it stands.

- Beautiful apartment on Franklin near 29th that would be $950 a month (sewer, gas, trash included) - No off-street parking

- Great apartment on Clinton near 33rd which would be $900 a month (all utilities but electric included) - designated parking spot.

- Single family home off of Randall on John Ct, which is actually an alleyway for $800 a month - two designated spots on a concrete pad next to the house.

I have never lived in the city proper for an extended period of time so I am trying to weigh the pros/cons and hidden costs of living down here. Additionally, I'm trying to see if a parking spot is worth giving up a slightly better location for car safety / not getting plowed in in the winter.

Any additional thoughts/comments would be greatly appreciated.

33rd and Clinton and 29th/Franklin essentially the same neighborhood.  I would save the $50, get the parking spot and go with Clinton....but that's just me.  YES regarding not getting lowed in the winter.  Street parking in Cleveland in the winter can be extremely frustrating

So i was driving past university circle today which i have never really done, but there's a solar farm right next to the rapid station on Euclid. How long has that been there, is it in operation by the RTA, and why does it look so poorly maintained?

its so poorly maintained, there's bent frames, panels just lying on the ground... surprised somebody wouldn't have fixed it.

Transit oriented development!

There’s a group of people that meet near the Hampton Inn on 9th and Superior everyday playing an app on their phones. Any idea what they’re doing?

BUMP!!! I need to know hahaha. and none of them will even acknowledge me when I walk by to ask

Is Pokemon Go still a thing?

YABO713---You'll have to rent a room at the Hampton, overlooking the crowd, so you look down onto their phones!

And to the Pokemon Go suggestion, I legitimate peered over a shoulder and it wasn't Pokemon Go.

Honestly, I've asked 2-3 times and been ignored. It's nuts.

There's a new augmented reality game for Harry Potter fans coming out in the next few months... maybe this is some beta test?

I saw Christian Kirksey as well as the Cavalier girls did a photo shoot on a rooftop basketball court somewhere in the city.

I am DYING to know where this is. All I can see is CSU's tower in the background of the image and can't really orient myself as to if it is North or South of Campus. Anyone know anything?

Maybe here?

^ I saw that on GoogleMaps as well, but (and pardon how obsessed I am by this), I believe St. Peter's Catholic church is in the foreground in front of the CSU tower, so the orientation from One Cleveland Center doesn't quite work.

The carpentry on the netting around the sides of the hoop (to stop the ball from going over) all looks new as well, and the court itself is rubber tile.

I NEED TO KNOW.

^ Gothcha. I used to watch basketball games there at the above spot when my office was in Oswald Center. I'm sure one of the CSU folks can clue you in on your search.

There aren't any other downtown basketball courts that I can see on Google Earth.  Maybe it was a photoshop job.

The actual Hotcards building is at superior and 23rd-ish... Could be their own roof. Looks to be north of campus because you can see Trinity Church's spires to the left of CSU's tower.

I don't think that's Trinity... I think it's St. Peter's Catholic Church. I compared the spires and Trinity has two up front and St. Peter has four.

I know... I've become obsessed. It's unhealthy.

Just looking at images of both of them right now... I think it's Trinity. (I've not been familiar with Peter's before right now) It'd be a lot easier to explain if I knew the architectural terms, but basically the proportion of the part perpendicular to the ground from which the spires come up out off to the actual length of the spires seems to look more like Trinity. Trinity is actually the one with four spires and Peter's with two, but Trinity's two smaller spires are much more narrow as well and I could see them not showing up in this pic.

The known location of the Hotcards building is also perfect for it to be Trinity... take another look.

They are also the type of 'hip' employer who would install a rooftop basketball court. Maybe they just did it recently so it's not showing up on any photos.

Also, there are a ton of "hip" internal office views on google maps.  Hover over their location with the dragging the small, yellow guy and you'll see what I mean.

I wonder how long until GoogleMaps satellite view updates

I needed a belt the other day because mine broke.  I couldn't think of any place to get one downtown.  Something like Marshall's would be nice.

Geiger's, Brooks Brothers, and possibly even A Dollar at Tower City should have something.

freefourur[/member] I thought of a few other places. Here's the clothing stores in/near downtown. A googlemap...
