Good day Everybody !

I seek your advice, please:

I need to paint my fire escape.

Is there any concern that when one gets to brick cleaning the chemicals will attack my new fire escape paint?

I appreciate your advice(s).

If you have got an old building especially, I do not think you should be cleaning your brick with anything close to something that would eat paint.  If it's painted, re-paint it.  If it's not, enjoy the patina, perhaps after a light brushing with very mild solutions and a soft brush.

Thanx for the advice.

I agree.  There are chemicals for removing paint etc., but once brick is painted, it is probably best to leave it painted.  Painting a fire escape is a nasty job because of the oil paint and scraping all the rust off, but luckily it only needs to be done rarely.

My bricks are not painted, and they are really dirty from smog and weather elements.

The solution for brick cleaning - would it affect my newly painted fire escape ?

You should just powerwash your brick with water first and see if you like the results before getting into any kind of chemical applications.

Yes, that's what I am going to do.  And I am painting the fire escape.

The answer to your question is no, the soap you use to clean the brick will not affect the painted fire escape.
