Surfers are some of the most determined people I know...  I'd be willing to bet some of them are out there in the morning during winter.  Thanks for sharing!

20-30 years ago Long Beach had a terrible, dangerous reputation. It was full of druggies and SRO's and no one wanted to live there, and then it started to become somewhat yuppified by people who couldn't afford the more upscale beach communties. Though now, like every place else in the NY area, it's real estate is grossly inflated.

Not at all what I was expecting.  Somehow, I thought it would be a bit less junky looking there, so close to the shore.  Still, looks like it has character.
