Posted July 29, 201014 yr I'm transferring from Kent to CSU this fall and I need apartment recommendations. I'd like to be close to campus and walking distance from the essentials like transportation, groceries, BARS! I'm 23 and want to live with people around the same age. I'd be looking at 1 bedroom and could pay at most $900.00 a month. THANKS FOR THE HELP!
July 29, 201014 yr Have you considered on-campus housing? There are a bunch of brand-new dorms that are going to be opening for the fall. Besides that, check out the University Studios apartments and Reserve Square, both of which are popular with CSU students, and maybe Statler Arms, the Osborne Bldg... One of the downtown residents will have more advice on buildings/price points, I'm sure.
July 29, 201014 yr 1900 Euclid Avenue has one-bedrooms and is practically right on campus. Are those the ones being refurbed as a part of 'collegetown'?
July 29, 201014 yr I don't believe so, but they are in the same area. They were built-out about 7-8 years ago I believe. My brother rented there for a year and he like it. I think he was paying just under $800/mo for a one-bedroom. Washer/dryer are in the unit, which is a plus. They are right accross from the law school, between E 18th and E 21st. I believe there is a little market going in one of the retail spaces in that strip as well.
July 30, 201014 yr I visited Reserve Square and 1900 Euclid today...1900's location is perfect but the apartments and the amenities seemed a bit lacking. I really liked Reserve Square and the convenience of having a restaurant/bar and grocery store that close. I walked from campus to RS and there was a mildly rough stretch on chester near the greyhound station, nothing too bad though. Does anyone have experience with RS? I'd love to know what you guys think.

Lets give him some up-to-date information. True it may be out of date, but it would be a worthy question to ask, look into, during the decision process. I think it is more there to make the OP aware that there was a problem.
July 30, 201014 yr also make sure to check out the osborn/huron square. there are always students in there. Living in the osborn 6 years, I would reccomend it to anyone. 1br's I believe start at $750.

August 1, 201014 yr I am shocked to see how affordable it is to live downtown. The complex I am living at in Kent (Pebblebrook) wants $900.00 a month for a single! Amazing considering my parents bought a condo in 1985 for $30,000 for me to live in while I was attending Kent State. I paid them monthly rent of $330. They sold the condo for only a small profit in 1990 when I continued my education at another school. I didn't realize that real estate prices had gone up so much since then -- especially when I drive through Kent these days. I think the city looks a lot shabbier today than it did when I went to school there 20+ years ago. Residents of Kent don't seem to be getting much for their housing investment these days. By contrast, Downtown Cleveland is a lot nicer today than it was 20+ years ago, so you will certainly be getting more neighborhood amenities for your housing value there.
