Posted August 16, 201014 yr Atlanta has it's Piedmont Park, could Cleveland create it's own urban park linking Midtown and Uptown? I know that "Cleveland Clinic is buying up all the property" but, can you envision razing all of the boarded up homes in Midtown creating a Central Park type effect in the middle of the eastside? It would link Midtown to Rockerfeller Park in Uptown/University Circle. Chester with it's jack-o-lantern housing is so prime. It is a natural expressway and could be lined with highrise apt/condo living, upscale communities and restaurants, and recreation venues all within an urban park the magnitude of Central Park/ Piedmont Park. Having the new University Circle / Uptown skyline anchoring the eastern end. Just dreaming, I hate the idea of these urban farms, it seems like a giving up type action. Let's create urban parks of old.
August 16, 201014 yr It's hard to say without a more specific presentation of the idea. What would you think should be the specific boundaries? Can you put it on a map?
August 17, 201014 yr Cleveland already has a Central Park: Rockerfeller Park. It is lined with residential, museums, schools, reflecting ponds, bridges, etc. Put a land bridge over I 90 to Gordon Park, Dike 14 (or whatever it is and it would be ideal. Rather than grand new ideas, Cleveland needs to finish what it started and restore what it has lost.
