You told him to go to Buddakan.  He'd might as well go to PF Chang's.

Gasp! and clutch my pearls!

You don't know fine dining.  Besides, his wife would enjoy it!  It's about the experience.

I don't know fine dining?  Says the one that swares by Yours Truly?

Booty, you're confusing me with ProkNo5 and Columbisite

You're all interchangeable.

"interchangeable", the nerve.

How dare you categorize me with those (no offense guys - you know I love you like I could love any legally hired domestic staff) uncultured, uncivilized, Neanderthals who live below the turn pike/are planning to live below the turnpike, gringo's with bad hair cuts?!

HUMPH!

Come on Booty, you can do better than that!

Obviously I hit a nerve, Platano.

I think I already won.

Now, why don't you go back to recommending bad restaurants to poor tedders55.

tedders55 I gave you a good list, use it.  Do you want to really experience a good time or list to Mr. Brokeass?  LOL  Think about it!

When it comes to food, I would never steer you wrong.

Don't you worry.  I have a feeling I am going to end up at Four Seasons for dinner, in which case the question becomes do we do the prix fixe meal or just order off the menu??  And probably one other place.

Unless anyone has any amazing lunch recommendations, taking into account that lunch will be @ Rockefeller Center Thursday, 34th st/Herald Sq Friday, Friday is spoken for, and Grand Central Station Saturday, then we will likely just find what we find.

*cough* Oyster Bar *cough*

Four Season Restaurant is a great choice!

If you're going to eat inside of Rock Center the only restaurant to eat in is The Sea Grill.  Period.

Other suggestions near Rock Center

  • Oceana
  • Del Friscos
  • 21 Club
  • The Modern
  • Brasserie 8½
  • The food hall at the Plaza Hotel

Ohhhh...I just thought you may want to walk thru Plaza, Peninsula, St. Regis or Waldorf Hotels. Just to say you've walked through the lobbies and its also an place to take a break if you get tired from walking.

Herald Square doesn't have good food.  You either need to go North to Midtown or South to Flat Iron/Murray Hill.  There is a strip of Korean Restaurants on Broadway so maybe - just maybe - Ram23 could be of assistance.

In Grand Central

  • Metrazur
  • Oyster Bar

Before you leave check out the Campbell Apartment.

Probably not going to be eating in the Rock Center, but was wondering what was in the area.

Korean doesn't sound like a bad idea for lunch.  Ram if you have one or two spots that you prefer in the area please let me know.

There are a bunch of good Korean places in K-Town, which is essentially just 32nd Street between Harald Square and 5th Avenue.  Woorijip is good if you're looking for a quick bite to eat, but if you're looking for BBQ or don't need to get in and out try Seoul Garden (hard to find because it's on a second floor, you have to look up, then find the stairs underneath the sign), Shilla, or Mandangsui (which is actually 2 blocks up on 35th).  I think Mandangsui was my favorite.

I like that I started this tread but MTS hijacked it.

Well if it wasn't for my suggestions RAM23 would have you eating at Dallas BBQ and his local bodega!

Don't be knockin' Wash Heights' (and Chelsea...and now Brooklyn, oy!) very own Dallas BBQ!  Your black card has been officially revoked and you are strictly Platano for now on.

It's quite a lively corner, full of cheap eats, Belgian beer bars, and Korean places.  Don't be dissin my corner.

PS, my Korean girlfriend thinks Seoul Garden is the best Korean in town, but of course she wasn't paying!

I love how my little tread for advice on a quick trip to NYC has become a throwdown for everyone that lives in NYC to defend their turf.  At least I enjoy all you crazies.

Thats true.  Heaven forbid you would ever venture across the river.  Why you may find a sudden appetite for TGI Fridays and the urge to go shopping at your local Kohls.

Then again when us west-siders cross we have a sudden complex to speak in navely aristocratic voices and demand that the maid fluff the pillows 3 times not just twice.

I visit the Westside.  I have family in Clark, Tremont, Ohio City and the West Bank, and I have to get to the airport.  If you ever saw or heard me admit to shopping at Kohls, trust and believe, I've gone mad!

You know people who have a maid who only fluffs the pillow 3 times?  Sound like grounds for immediate dismissal!

Well, you did admit going to Daffy's...

And I'm sure each visit involved more kicking and screaming than a 9 year old girls soccer game.

You're skating on thin ice Mr.  Why don't you fluff her pillows?!

Now, if you want your "pillows fluffed" in New York, we can get into that one as well.  I refer you to the back pages of the Queens Tribune ;)

Laaaaawd, you blue collar people!

Again, this coming from somebody living in Shaker Square, the ghetto Kansas City Plaza.

Doing drag at the MR?  Walking the Red Light District?  Or are you an Afro-Serbian gun smuggler?

Now you are just being racist, Clarence.

ROFLMAO!  Well Booty, it is what it is!

Thursday night is going to be more casual.  So I think this disqualifies all MTS suggestions.  I was wondering what Casual joints would be good to stop into as we walk back from ESB (toward Rockefeller Plaza)?  Hell we may make it into our own little pub crawl if you recommend some good ones.

Also, being the hardcore Browns fan that the wife is, she was wondering about finding the local Browns Backers.  And it just so happens that we could stop in there watch some of the game then taking either a bus or the 6 to the M60.  Have any of you fine people ever ventured out with the NYC Browns Backers?

No Boo, that doesn't, did you read my list and google the locations? (raised eyebrow)  :?

The only areas that you will find DECENT casual restaurants on your walk back from ESB will be off of 5th or 6th Ave. which leaves you going to the Grand Central or Times Square areas.    I might Suggest Keen's or DB Bistro.

Tad's Steakhouse, Times Square.

You're as bad as Ram23.  I'm sure tedders55 doesn't want food poisoning!

BXL near Times Square is a nice place to grab a Belgian beer, some mussels, and pomme frites.  I've never seen a tourist in there, despite its location.  It gets a quick after-work crowd, then becomes pretty chill.
