Invasive Beetle Alert--Brought to you by cheap Chinese plastic crap?

More of the "high cost of low price" in this "global economy" where shipping this and that everywhere when we can get it right here....is also often carrying with it, a host of exotic animals that wreak havoc in their non-native lands. Was that Mall-Wart widget worth saving that dime...at what cost in the bigger picture? Got air? Another good reason to buy local as often as possible. Interesting alert and what you can do to help is outlined below. Just the facts.

I do think people need to stop buying so much cheap chinese crap but according to your logic, people shouldn't even travel to different countries.

^ No, that is not what my logic is suggesting at all so please don't take it in that direction.... Most invasives like this were brought upon by commercial transit situations, not by passenger travel. Just accept the inconvenient truth instead of denial or taking it into a totally different subject. We can all learn something from the information provided and do our part. This is one thing where, collectively, we can all help make a difference as buying local will increase the local economy and decrease demand for imports....and perhaps lead to stricter more thorough watch of what comes in and what goes out of the borders.

I'm not denying it but you know we do have a bed-bug and TB problem here because of immigrants, right?

Are we not supposed to export materials to other countries for the same reason? It just sounds like your agenda is protectionism, not public health.

Each ship sent to the Orient returns with wonderful spices and silk -- the likes of which we in the Occident have never experienced previous to trade. But forsooth, undesirable creatures not of this land also arrive as stowaways.
