Posted August 23, 201014 yr Dayton airport rail project may yield job boom Dayton Business Journal - by Joe Cogliano DBJ Staff Reporter Local officials are going after nearly $12 million in state funding to jump-start a plan to bring rail service to the Dayton International Airport. Montgomery County is leading the effort and will look to raise an additional $6.4 million from local sources for the project, which would be ready for construction in 2014, according to an application to the Transportation Advisory Review Council, or TRAC. The council ranks projects across the state as they vie for funding from the Ohio Department of Transportation. The rail project is expected to drive development in and around the airport grounds, which could lead to thousands of new jobs. February 22, 201114 yr There had been a branch track off of the CSX Toledo Subdivision that went to the airport that was starting to be removed around 2004 or so, but maybe some minds got changed and were willing to put the removed parts of the rail back. I think the right of way is still undeveloped and has rail in at least some of the places.
