There's so much to see on the streets - the thing that attracts my attention the most are the beautiful women and the art work. I don't like to look like a stalker by taking those pics but at least I got shots of some sweet art work with permission from the artists.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Something was really strange about this park. A bunch of people were sitting extremely close to each other, yet not talking. Then some people were talking as if they were acting in a movie. A blind guy was holding a sign that said "is anyone here wearing a blue hat" when 5 kids were all wearing a blue hat by the fountain playing, but then they suddenly left. I go to sit down at the park bench and there's an unopened pack of cigarettes and a lighter sitting  on top of it right next to me. What is this, a set up? Kids at CUNY must be doing some kind of social experiment or something.

I didn't take enough pictures in Soho! Anyone who's been to NYC knows what I'm talking about :)

I always find Flushing to have the most beautiful women, but maybe that's just a personal preference ;)

 

I will say that the proportion of attractive females to males is astounding in NYC, despite what David's pictures might show!!

The only places we went into around there were the Liberty View restaurant behind that marina and the Staten Island Ferry terminal.

 

Is that the place that reminded me of the  RenCen Marriott atrium in Detroit? I didn't know the views were that great. I guess I know where to go next time :)

I don't know if you went inside (you certainly would have remembered the palm trees, and stores surrounding the central area if you did), but there's a glass-enclosed viewing platform at the top of the stairs, which used to be the connecting point to a footbridge that joined the World Trade Center to the Financial Center (sorry if you missed this, since you were right there!)-- http://www.flickr.com/photos/cermannara/4712616614/#in/photostream/

The foot bridge we took seemed to be a temporary one. I guess the 9/11 disaster also did a lot of damage to the logistics and connectivity of the place.

It's crazy to see such a large area just hollowed out, in manhattan. Ground zero gives me the creeps. I can't wait to see the site finally complete. I wish they had better renderings up; the ones along the fence made it seem kinda unclear as to what the overall plan will look like. Maybe some stuff is still being revised? I haven't looked it up online lately.

Has anyone ever noticed how people subconsciously start to pose when your camera is out to take a picture of the streetscape? This especially happens in New York. Take for instance, the picture below the Columbus Circle picture where the street signs say 5th and E 56th. The guy is posing like he thinks he's supposed to be on a Superman comic book cover or something.

Letters confirm rumors surrounding Winter Garden staircase

The grand marble staircase at the World Financial Center, which was destroyed on 9/11 and subsequently rebuilt, will likely be taken down again – this time, by the building’s owner.

 

Brookfield Properties will likely be demolishing the steps and a 15-foot-high wall that supports them, after nine months of staff meetings and studies about the renovation project. Rumors surfaced months ago about the staircase’s pending demolition. Now, recent letters between Brookfield and the Department of City Planning have substantiated the rumors and community residents that see the staircase as a symbol of the 9/11 attacks are not happy.
