August 26, 201014 yr The sidewalks probably got all lumpy. On the other hand, Southern Ohio does see a lot of tree disease.
August 26, 201014 yr Plowing Cairn of Peace In 1957, Northern Ireland, Sweden, Germany, New Zealand, and many other countries came together in this small town for an international plowing contest and exhibition. A monument [with a replica 12th century plow] was erected in honor of the event.

August 30, 201014 yr hmmm, i take its a farming center? There are some beautiful farms, but it is very hilly and not as suitable for modern farming methods. An Amish community has recently bought 800 acres and is expanding in the area.

Often is the case that bio-phobic, short sighted...ecologically challenged and illiterate fools who are too lazy to deal with leaves because "they're messy"............ remove them...totally ignoring the fact that they provide property aesthetic value, clean water and air, reduce soil erosion, noise pollution......reduce wind battering, help with lowering utility bills, safe habitat for backyard friendly habitat (so they don't wind up in your chimney!) and a place to read on a hot summer day among a myriad of many other values...all doing this for FREE! They get removed from the city/townscape, but seldom replaced. Warren, Ohio is notorious for this...absolutely horrible tree maintaining/planting ethics. Check out Arbor Day Foundation for more reminders on the forgotten value of trees and why they're essential to one's very own existence. Damn me for having learned this, as I am the odd ball out among the fools who don't know and worse, don't want to know or learn...and when they refuse to open their minds and learn, they are fools in my book. Not you Tedolph... Just ranting outloud! I think you made a very good observation and I appreciate such an observation. Oh, and disease gets some...But this is when we really need to replant something. A tree's value far outweighs any perceived negative.
