Posted September 19, 201014 yr North Clintonville...I just don't get the appeal. Yes, there is some good stuff there, but it's just so eerily quiet and dead despite its population size: a palpable contrast to its southern half which I currently call home. I just find that whenever I spend time here even in one of the coffee shops that I feel my energy draining little by little. There's just something off about the place once you cross N Broadway. Too suburban-urban for me. Here are photos of the main drag on High along with a sampling of residential streets and a little bit of Indianola. Map made with Google Maps (click for larger interactive map) These night shots were after a Clintonville bar hop me and a friend made on the walk to Tee Jaye's from O'Reilly's Pub and was my best experience in the area. No, it's not just a few more blocks up the street. :D North High Street. Absolutely bustling at 3:30AM with a wide range of patrons. Best to be in the mood for everything on your plate to be covered in gravy. Daytime. Used to be a coffee shop. Too bad nothing similar has taken its place. Homes. Breevort Park. Indianola Avenue. Train!
September 19, 201014 yr The night shots bring back memories of my "midnight-skulker" years. I didn't prowl Columbus except maybe once, but the feel is the same as a lot of other places, walking lonely on deserted streets dimly lit by store signs and windows.
September 19, 201014 yr It's certainly more satisfying than just walking it during the day, maybe there's something to be said for the ambiance of empty streets and sidewalks only lined with lit-up buildings, block after block. (Had to look up "skulker".)
