^ Yeah. Such a waste of a prime location. We often talk about Cleveland's potential. So many possibilities but as a market the resources are just not apparent. It does seem as if there is enough demand though. I guess we'll just have to continue to wait for the day when Cleveland takes off.

I heard a rumor from two separate people yesterday that MGK just bought Shooters with plans to turn it into a nightclub. I have no idea of this is completely bogus or not.

I couldn’t name a single song of his and haven’t been to a nightclub since the 90s, but I can’t help think this would be a great thing if true.

I've been trying to confirm this for a month. I even reached out to his PR lady to no avail.

I feel the same from its impact, shooters is set up perfectly to be a nightclub if done well. If true I wish he would invest money into the water taxi so it would run better across both sides.

I'm on the fence about it. 

 

 I mean, Shooters has seen better days, but it's kind of an icon in Cleveland.  And it's an actual restaurant that is active (or could be active) day and night, for families, boaters etc.    I'd rather see it live on to fight another day.

Yes, Machine Gun Kelley. The rumor also mentioned investing in the water taxi. 

 

I am begrudgingly for this. I like the competition. Ironically, Shooters used to be the premier late night spot in the summer until FWD came along and it seems like FWD forced Shooters to kind of rebrand. Shooters is so wonderful for weekend late afternoon / early evening live music. However, it seems to not be a late night spot anymore. Perhaps this purchase could bring that back to Shooters and make it a big time late night spot again and force places like FWD to up their game.

 

But i just wish it weren't Shooters. It is such an iconic venue and I kind of like being stuck in 1989 when I go there. The food there is incredibly underrated in my opinion. I hope that doesn't change.

MGK and his people did a great job with 27club I’d love to see what they could do with a place like shooters, ultimately have a better anchor on the West Bank

maybe pete davidson and colin jost can park their old ferry/supposed comedy club in front of shooters and take care of two birds with one stone so to speak? is there a northwest passage to get it over there, or do they have to fitzcarraldo it like herzog & kinski? 😂🎉

It's a beautiful Sunday and Shooters is closed. The website says "temporarily closed ". This feels very real.

Does opening to the public include some form of a bar/tasting facility, or will that be part of some later phase? I seem to remember something to that effect, but not sure.

There were initial plans for one. There may still be, but I can’t confirm. The Trump 25% whiskey tariff war, which Europe retaliated and matched, completely wiped out their European market which was a big profit maker for them. They haven’t turned a profit since, but are close to recovering now. That hit made them scale back and pump the brakes on their aspirations.

beware of that — a nyc biz owner told me google made it harder with rigamarole to change hours and the like on google maps, so thats why a lot of info is wrong or outdated.

 

for one recent example i tried to go to a rooftop place the other day at noon that on google maps sez open at noon daily, but irl it’s only open at noon on weekends and otherwise open at 2pm during the weekdays. so no roof views pix for us lol.

Good point. However I've been looking over at Shooters the last couple of weekends and it is indeed closed. But yeah, Google Maps is a nice tool, but definitely not gospel.

i liked the plan with the boat dock canal in it better.

There are some huge parking craters on the West Bank now.  It would be nice to see some or all of then go away.

After reading the article, the Jacobs mentioned still wanting to tear the large industrial building down that is attached to this. What is the fascination the Jacobs have with destroying their existing infrastructure? Are they in the parking business?

They've already got a bunch of shows scheduled according to their social media. 

I had been annoyed at every other city in the midwest getting a MJ Lenderman show with no CLE dates, but looks like that is solved!  Will be interesting to see what this looks like.

Wow, Mushroomhead is still a going concern.  They used to hang at Gee's sometimes because their ink shop (which also did mine) was down the street.

 

The Melvins played the Beachland last fall, so more competition for them as well I guess.

There's around about 45 acres of land between Center St and the river in the West Flats. 60%+ is already either parking lots or roads with street parking.

I had a ticket to the Detroit show and something came up, so I'm feeling the same way haha.

 

 

I really hope they don't get away with tearing down the next door building, though.
