Posted September 29, 201014 yr Xavier officially dedicated its new academic buildings and the Hoff Academic Quad on Thursday, September 23. The Hoff Academic Quad consists of the new Smith Hall for the Williams College of Business, Conaton Learning Commons and the new physical plant. Also of note is the new entryway from Dana Avenue via Ledgewood, the future Magis Plaza and the upcoming reconstruction of Dana from Interstate 71 to Victory Parkway. The following photographs were taken by Greg Rust. Conaton Learning Commons Smith Hall and the Williams College of Business The blessing of the Conaton Learning Commons by Father Graham. Mr. Conaton himself. Here are photographs of the buildings that I have taken, primarily of the Conaton Learning Commons, for Xavier. More will be posted soon, especially of Smith Hall. Conaton Learning Commons This photo isn't that dated, but they are adding windows and frames to the future dorm/dining complex now! Magis Plaza will be in the paved area to the lower left. They did not add brickwork to the sidewalks in this vicinity, because it will eventually be reconstructed as it descends down towards the reconstructed Alter Hall. Smith Hall, with the new Ledgewood Avenue in the foreground. Again, Smith Hall with the future dorm/dining complex behind it. Hope you enjoyed this!
September 29, 201014 yr It's good to see the expansion of Xavier. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
September 29, 201014 yr ^Agreed. I'd like to see XU have a larger impact on the surrounding neighborhoods.
September 29, 201014 yr Xavier continues to raise their profile - these are truly transformational developments. As I have mentioned I think the last piece will be creating a "college town" area on the donated land from BASF. Bars and restaurants basically on campus would be awesome.
September 30, 201014 yr I agree. One of the issues that was raised in recent years was our lack of commitment or involvement in the local community -- that being Norwood and Evanston. That has started to change, with the NEXUS Community Garden and other projects, but it will take East Campus being developed to see a full engagement.
October 2, 201014 yr Beautiful buildings and excellent photos; this scene is so clean and crisp it looks like a rendering:
October 2, 201014 yr Beautiful buildings and excellent photos; this scene is so clean and crisp it looks like a rendering: That's what I thought. Great photos Sherman.
October 23, 201014 yr Didn't know where to stash them, but here are some new photos of the dormitory/dining complex construction! This building, which is larger than the Conaton Learning Commons and Smith Hall combined, is being built on the scale of silver LEED although Xavier is not applying for the needless and expensive designation. And some photos from event I was photographing at Smith Hall:
