COVINGTON - Bill and Valerie Ashmore plan to move their recently restored 1800s home about 75 feet eastward along the Ohio River's shore and build seven luxury town houses alongside it.

Here's an aerial of the project area, looking west.  The Victorian house and the land for the development are on the right.  Highway Ave. (KY-8) passes by the property and then curves to the southwest.

This is west of the city, on the way out of Covington, just where route 8 turns up a hill away from the river.  Facinating site.  I have wondered about it every time I pass it.  Hard to believe they will be above the flood level.

Riverfront relic salvaged

Now becomes part of condo development

The River House moved upriver Tuesday.

Instead of tearing down the 1870s Victorian house to make way for riverfront condominiums, developers decided to move the house 80 feet to the east and incorporate it into River House Landing.

River House Landing starting in Botany Hills

Building Cincinnati, 9/27/07

The River House Landing project now has a website, which includes access to a webcam.

Bill and Valerie Ashmore (dba River City Views, LLC) are teaming with Tanner Custom Homes to build the project, which will include 7 luxury townhomes starting at $1,095,000.

A renovated Victorian home, which had to be moved to accomodate the project, will also be restored and offered for $795,000.

All of the units are still available.

In addition to three bedrooms and four baths, each unit will also feature a two-car "tandem" garage, a private elevator, a media room, a rooftop deck and high-end finishes.

Because one acre of the plat actually extends underneath the river, the townhomes will also be able to offer private boat docks with each unit.

The project is being built between Highway Avenue (KY-8) and the Ohio River, near where the road takes a sharp curve at Swain Court.

So far, work has progressed to the foundations being poured.

What is the status of this project?  As of the most recent post from September of 2007 the foundations had been poured.

I assume they are having a tough time getting qualified buyers.  There has not been any progress since they poured the foundations and a few steel beams across each.

Yeah, I haven't noticed any progress except on restoring the Victorian that they moved.  I think Rich is right...probably a victim of the housing market.

Stalled? They were working on it as of last Friday! They were getting along with the framing, although it was stalled for a considerable amount of time.

My God, they've demolished the north pier of the Brent Spence Bridge!

If you say so.  The project was just sitting there with some foundation work completed for some time.  If they are indeed working on this again then we can move it back to Projects/Construction.
