February 18, 200916 yr New museum hopes to sign up donors to open A 19-foot, 11-inch fiberglass genie stands poised to straddle the entrance to the American Sign Museum's new home. That giant genie better start working some magic. If the museum's wish for more money isn't granted soon, the grand opening of the new digs for the renowned home to hundreds of historic signs is going to be delayed. "We've already spent $1.5 million," said Tod Swormstedt, the founder of the museum currently based in Walnut Hills. "We need to raise another $1.2 million to complete the work inside. But, we're going to be out of money by April." In May 2008, Swormstedt pegged the opening of the museum's Camp Washington home for the summer of 2009. Now, he hopes to open by the end of the year. August 10, 20213 yr For the past several months, the American Sign Museum has been removing the parapet along Monmouth and it looks like they are now preparing to remove some windows and maybe build a new entry. I tried looking up articles about it but came up dry. I had heard a while ago that they were fundraising for an expansion. I wonder if that all happened quietly and they are executing an expansion without fanfare.
