Wow...I've been on UO long enough my age bracket has changed.

Update on the job front:  Got the new job.  I'm pumped.  Huge career move for me.  The travel will be difficult, but will hopefully be worth it in the long run.

As a side note, if you're interested in renting a 2 BR, 2 bath condo with (IMO) the best view of the city, hardwood floors, granite counters,  nice balcony, stainless appliances, washer/dryer, 2 garage parking spaces, security, concierge, and fitness center let me know!

Congrats on the JOB!  What will you now be doing?

You might want to slap some photos of unit up here.

Are we allowed to advertise rental units here?  I didn't think we were.  But there are pictures of my unit on page 10 of this thread: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,2178.msg383282.html#msg383282

yes that is a great view!  Should be easy to rent!

The economy has allowed me to buy a nice house i wouldn't have been able to afford a few years back.

When the recession started in 2007 I was in college.  Graduated in May 2008, found a job by August on Rockside Rd in Independence.  Realized I didn't want to make it into a career and quit my job in July 2009 to go to graduate school to get my MBA at the University of Akron.  Luckily I received a graduate assistantship so my tuition was paid for.

Finished my MBA in 12 months (51 weeks to be exact) then packed up and moved to all Urban Ohio's favorite city... Charlotte! Haha.  It can be sprawltastic and I do miss Cleveland sometimes but overall I am happy here.  Looking at some foreclosures in the Dilworth area which is a neighborhood right outside of the center city.

I'd say that the uncertainty from graduating to finding a new job (twice) was hard but it's worked out real well for me.

Weird..... I am sitting in my Dad's den on Dilworth Rd West as I am typing this.  Doesn't seem to be many foreclosures around here.  Before the crisis, the thing to do around here was buy one of the 'shacks' (per Dilworth standards), tear it down and then build some out of place faux victorian montrosity.  Thank god that stopped.  It was killing the invaluable character of Dilworth.

BTW, any idea what the Cleveland and Dilworth connection is?  Seems too coincidental that there are three street off East Blvd, back to back, named Cleveland, Euclid, and Lyndhurst.

Sorry it's been a few days since you posted but I don't have an idea about the connection although I noticed the same.  There aren't too many foreclosures to look at but one is on Euclid Ave that I will be keeping an eye on.

Just down here for a visit?  I live over by Southpark mall currently and I'm counting down the days till I will be able to move closer to Uptown.

Yes.  It was just a visit.  Back in 'the Land' now.  Good luck with your search.  My buddy down there I went to college with in Greensboro just bought a house on Wedgeworth... a small, 3bdrm ranch with a walkout basement... and he said it was the closest he could get to Uptown for under $300,000.  He's about a 15 minute drive out.  I told him he could have bought a house 3 times as big up here in the Heights for the same price and same distance from our downtown ;)  He actually paid $25,000 more than my sister paid for her 5 bdrm, 3,500 sq ft colonial, with two stair cases, a butler's pantry and a smoking room!  And her house has a 81 score on the walkability test, while his has a 52.
