November 5, 201014 yr Well, my first post was the establishment of the Mansfield General Business and Economic News thread, but the actual post is gone because it contained an article without a link. However, here is my second post.
November 5, 201014 yr Good God I've been here so long. My first post was in the Cleveland: Flats East Bank thread http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,1823.0/msg,15769.html

November 5, 201014 yr Remember it well. It was a rant in the Residency Thread in typical Hts44121 fashion. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,4553.120.html I probably had been lurking for about a year, but that was my first post. To which, MTS snarkily replied - umm...thanks and welcome! And I responded with - Umm.... your welcome and thanks!
November 5, 201014 yr Does anyone know what the approx. population of the downtown districts will be when all of the new housing goes in? I think the magic number for the "critical mass" is 10,000. Is this right, and how close will we be? Thanks

November 5, 201014 yr My first post was a photo thread of downtown Willoughby I believe, some time in early summer of 2004. It's not on the site anymore. I don't know what happened to it. (Someone probably took it down because the photos were red X's after I pulled the photos from my server due to lack of space.
November 5, 201014 yr My first post was NOT PRETTY. I held-no-punches because I didn't personally know anyone on the forum. I don't think it's on record, I checked my oldest posts and I don't see it but I'm pretty sure I remember the first one vividly. There was some thread about Cincinnati and how Pleasant Ridge is such a great place to buy a house because it's underrated, has a great business district, easy access to everything, along with just about everything a realtor would tell you. So I had a go at MonteCarloSS (CincyImages - before he sold out to his own brand lol). I basically said look, I've lived here for the latter half of my teen years (my mom had just moved to a different city and left me the house since I had just graduated so I was basically in charge of selling it before I myself would move) and I don't know if I mentioned being robbed and burglarized but being in charge of showing the house and answering questions for the realtor and prospective buyers, I was well-attuned to what their concerns were and what they thought. The public schools are sh!tty meaning you better hope your kids are smart enough to test into Walnut Hills or else you might as well include parochial tuition in the cost of the house, the business district was on the decline (which is true, they were struggling - I could see the writing on the wall, especially with the amazing independent local market with all the local stores inside) and on top of that, the house we lived in for 3 years turned out to be a bad investment because we didn't even get counter offers on the listing price which was the same as what my mom and stepdad originally paid and this was after some remodeling and expensive updating of electrical infrastructure and a new water heater. I basically got the impression that MonteCarloSS and others assumed I didn't know what the hell I was talking about (lets face it, people on this site love to boost whatever they like irregardless of facts sometimes) when I was the one on the front lines here. I remember the thread getting pretty ugly and I remember thinking MonteCarloSS was a douchebag but my opinion of him has since changed to the other side of the spectrum.

November 5, 201014 yr I believe this is the first topic of all time. Looks like richNcincy wins for now! http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,33.0.html
November 5, 201014 yr ^The date of that post is January 12th, 2004 and CDM's post was on January 9th, 2004; so, I think we need to keep looking for the oldest post.
November 6, 201014 yr It was sometime in 2004. I was posting here during that year, before I decided to become a serious "content provider" with a digital camera to document Dayton a bit...and that got out of hand with all those powerpoint things and marked up scans and maps.... But it was in 2004. I remember that this used to be Cincinnati UpRise, piggybacking on the old Skyscraper Page elevation drawings....
November 6, 201014 yr My first [pix post was in 2004, January or February, & it was of the old part of Centerville. Funny thing is that I'm moving away from this urbanist stuff, losing interest in urban Dayton, and becoming , instead, "nature boy", going out on hikes instead of city walks. I rarely spend any time within the city...any city...anymore (except for that recent road-trip to Cleveland & Buffalo).

I believe I just discovered the first post EVER on Urban Ohio  And the Honor still belongs to richNcincy http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,2.msg3.html#msg3
November 6, 201014 yr the first post ever was probably deleted when they cleared the forums before, i doubt the first post would be topic 2 message 3...
November 6, 201014 yr My first post was April 2008, and obviously sarcastic: Every city has problems?? Speak for yourself. Here in Canton, OH i would say we have reached our zenith. The average salary is 250,000 yearly with a yearly cost of living of $10.00. Every single house has been "Perma-painted" and looks perfect. We have such critical mass that we started stacking every single shop and take out, Mcdonalds is on the 1120th floor, but the elevator reaches the speed of sound and never ever breaks down. This year we finished coating everything in a clear teflon shield so now when it rains (we control when that happens) all of the dirt just runs west to Massillon. Our population also quad-triples monthly, but somehow commute times and congestion are never affected. I'm sorry for those of you in Chicago and Cleveland....it must be tough? Canton will just have to remain the sweet and the rest, the sour. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,15838.msg276688.html#quickreply
November 8, 201014 yr On July 20, 2004 in the "Where you went to school, what do you do" topic in Urbanbar. I've been a farm kid, tool and die maker, spent a little time at Purdue and a little more at Indiana U, gave Uncle Sam 4 years in the USAF, worked as an accountant for longer than I liked, and retired in 2000 from IBM Global Services as a PC Support guy on a contract site with an insurance company. Now I indulge my long-term interest in photography and work on my old house in a city neighborhood in Fort Wayne. Recently I started a web site to share some photos at http://www.robertpence.com/
November 8, 201014 yr I think my first post on the forum was something along the lines of "BANNED!!!!!!"; but I think it was lost during a server reboot. The earliest post I'm aware of was a photo thread of the cancelled Ameritrust Center. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram

November 10, 201014 yr I'm still confused what you mean by last posts, lol. Then again, I'm also the person who can't figure out how to post a picture even when consulting the "how to post pix" thread. But damn! September 26, 2004! I feel like an old timer...

Click the "Profile" button on the menu bar at the top of the page, or click your avatar/user name on one of your posts. That will take you to your user profile. Scroll down to the very end, under Additional Information, and you'll see a link that says Show last posts of this person. Click on that and then go to the last page of that list. You'll see the link to your earliest post there. :-) To post a picture:

November 10, 201014 yr I'm fairly certain my first post is no longer here. I remember it being a response to someone comparing how progressive Cleveland is with Columbus or Cincy or something.

November 10, 201014 yr Not really. Most of those posts should be in the "To Be Cleaned" section. I'm sure some left when we switched to this "new" forum but not much. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers

November 10, 201014 yr full of promise then (Jan 2006), now just broken dreams: (flats thread) Before Christmas, Bob Corna, the architect for stonebridge came to our holiday wine and cheese party to give us an update on w. bank development. There will be space in the new tower for a coffee and or wine bar to be enjoyed in the the glass atrium (of course this is up to finding a vendor-but the space will be there). Maybe even a grocery store. The building will have a catwalk from the viaduct, so it can be accessed from up top (perhaps and hopefully by public too). this will be a great stort cut to the power house/flats for stonebridge 4 residents. Also people down on the main ave level could come up and catch the great view on the viaduct, w/o a walk up some somewhat isolated streets.. Also in the works is better street lighting and easier access to whiskey island by foot or bike (currently we have to ride out to edgewater and back, or ride down an isolated dirt rode and lift bike over train tracks and a fence). It is ridiculous we can see the lake from Stonebridge but cannot easily access it. Also in recent Stonebridge IV news: the whole building is going condo, so there will be more units available. I believe the long range vision is to have lot more development (hopefully with some archetectural {sic}diversity that fits in nicely with rest of flats, ohio city and warehouse districts) . I am sure I am forgetting more...after many wines with great neighbors this happens!
November 13, 201014 yr It's weird to think back where you were making that first post. I was finishing up my undergrad in architecture. Had no idea I'd be going to grad school right away and only dreamed of living in Chicago. Now here I am, long done with grad school and my 2nd year living and working downtown. The pictures I posted in my first thread were actually out of date as well. Probably 2 years old than that post. It goes way back to when I started college and was exploring Detroit. Didn't own a car then so one of my friends from Detroit had to pick me up. We explored a bunch of abandoned buildings and of course took plenty of photos.
November 16, 201014 yr The early January post are probably among the first posts for the forum. We started UO in December but didn't add the forum until Jan 2004. It really seems like forever ago!
November 18, 201014 yr I used to post under the hanlde "Jeff". Appropriatly enough, my first post was in the Introductions thread April 29th 2004 ...what a long strange trip its been. On edit this would be a good place for a last post. It has been a long strange trip, and UO has become a virtual home for me. Maybe too much of one. But times and people change. So I am going to be departing for the foreseable futre, to do more "nature" things, and to do a lot of woodshedding. Never say never so I'm not going to say this my last post ever... ....anyway, hope you found my stuff of some interest. I certainly found this forum an education and an inspiration. Best of wishes, Jeff/Jeffery/Jeffery
