November 27, 201014 yr More than I thought. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
November 27, 201014 yr Oh my God, you actually listened to me after Amanda and Cygnet. See? I actually gave some decent, non-troll suggestions.
November 27, 201014 yr Stopped in Arcanum for lunch one day, but it must have been at least 25 years ago. Arcanum was a little more lively, then, but it still looks well kept.
November 28, 201014 yr Quick! Someone open up a Super Wal-Mart on the town limits and gut the remaining retail! Perhaps some of the town elders can be re-educated as to the insignificance and illegitimacy of their burg. It's not too late to demean this town's identity!!! No chains in sight. Is this even in the developed world? Just kidding in a black humor vein.
November 28, 201014 yr Oh my God, you actually listened to me after Amanda and Cygnet. See? I actually gave some decent, non-troll suggestions. Yep, you got lucky this time. :)
December 1, 201014 yr I wonder if the Alt OH 49 roads north and east of the city are open yet. Last time I went by there they were closed for construction. (I was wanting to get some photos, too.) Oh, and I really enjoy Picnic's Pizza right by Sutton's IGA on the north side! (There used to be a Pizza 'n Cream restaurant across Main Street from the big city hall building but it closed.) Arcanum ROCKS!!!
December 1, 201014 yr ink, did you check out Smith's coffeehouse? I think I would have to stop in if I were visiting Arcanum.
December 2, 201014 yr ink, did you check out Smith's coffeehouse? I think I would have to stop in if I were visiting Arcanum. I didn't get into Smith's, but it looked like a cool place throught the storefront.
December 2, 201014 yr The traffic signal mast arms are the first of their type that I have seen in Ohio! What is up with the brick color on the bank? Surely that cannot be original.
December 2, 201014 yr The traffic signal mast arms are the first of their type that I have seen in Ohio! What is up with the brick color on the bank? Surely that cannot be original. I liked the mast arms as well, very classy. That bank is entirely EIF or the like, I believe. That is not actual brick.
December 2, 201014 yr I believe that Lebanon used to have mast-mounted traffic signals back in the 70s. I remember learning to drive and going down there, and almost blowing the lights because I wasn't used to the placement of them.
December 3, 201014 yr They contribute a lot less visual clutter. I remember the vertical ones mounted on posts about the height of traditional street-light posts on the corners. I'm pretty sure Indianapolis and Chicago still had those when I started driving. To top it off, the posts and signal heads often were painted dark green, not yellow. Kept you on your toes. In 1963 when I visited a friend in Erie, PA, on some residential streets they still had two-color signals - red over green in one direction and green over red in the other. They only required two light bulbs to handle all possible signal aspects.
December 6, 201014 yr Some nice buildings. And wow, haven't seen a Ben Franklin store in a very long, long time.
