September 4, 200816 yr Today I learned some trivia about the Ohio State football program. OSU's next win will be its 800th. Thank you in advance to OU!
September 6, 200816 yr OHIO STATE 26 | OHIO UNIVERSITY 14 OSU sweats out a win over a gritty OU team. Ohio State's offense looked like it was sleepwalking for most of the game. The OSU victory was only saved by 4 INT's on defense, an OU fumbled punt recovered by OSU and an OSU punt return TD.
September 6, 200816 yr I didn't cast a top 10 vote for the Bucks. This season is not going to be pretty!
September 6, 200816 yr Its tough to get up for a game against OU when you have such a huge game ahead. They didn't want to show too much. Getting the W and coming out injury free was all that mattered this game They played about 50% what their capable of. You'll see a different team next week.

It was a wakeup call that EVERY game counts (I mean, seriously, who would take OU seriously) and they'll certainly "wake up" for next week. I'm not guaranteeing a victory in Los Angeles (I expect it to be a fun game, though) but they'll at least LOOK like a quality team next week. They better look much better this week or it's going to be UGLY. I have tickets to the Troy game and plan on tailgating like the last 2 weeks but if they lose big tailgating will suck. The same thing happened in 2005 after the loss to Texas. We had 13 people at my tailgate and it was very hard to get pumped up for San Diego State.
September 8, 200816 yr I'm concerned with OSU's continued inability to defend the spread offense...I really don't think it is from a lack of personnel, but the coaching philosophy...now that RichRod is bringing this type of offense to that State up North, it is even more of a concern.
September 9, 200816 yr Buckeyes fall to No. 5 in polls after anemic win http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2008/09/07/osufb08.html?sid=101
September 9, 200816 yr The spread has given the bucks trouble. The problem is there are a lot of versions of the spread. Some teams like Northwestern who run a true spread OSU has handled. Its the teams with a mobile QB that give them problems. I noticed in the first 3 quarters OSU had no spy on their QB. In the 4th Q they left Freeman to spy on the QB and that was pretty much the end of Boo running around. USC's qb can't move around like the dudes from OU. I like our matchup. Think about how we matched up against the Texas teams with and w/out Vince Young. It will fun game to watch Sat night!
September 12, 200816 yr Here's an article about Coach Tressel and Coach Carroll to whet your appetite for Saturday night's "Collision In The Coliseum"... Carroll-Tressel: Different personalities, similar results by Billy Witz, Special to FOXSports.com Updated: September 10, 2008, 11:13 PM EST No coaches in college football have had more success over the last eight seasons than Carroll at Southern California and Tressel at Ohio State. Carroll has won one outright national championship and a share of another and played for a third. He's also won six consecutive Pacific-10 Conference titles. Tressel has won one national championship and lost in the title game twice, along with winning four Big Ten titles. Carroll's record is 77-14; Tressel's is 75-16. September 12, 200816 yr And a couple of articles about the playing status of RB Beanie Wells... Tressel: Wells now doubtful for USC game Updated: September 11, 2008, 1:24 PM EST FoxSports.com COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said Thursday it is doubtful that starting tailback Chris "Beanie" Wells will play Saturday night against No. 1 Southern California. Tressel said there was lingering soreness for Wells in his right foot after he worked out on Wednesday night. Wells did not practice with the team Thursday morning just before it departed for Los Angeles. September 12, 200816 yr Am I the only one that feels the Buckeyes still have a good chance of beating USC regardless of whether or not Wells plays? Yes, Wells is a great RB, but it it not like the cupboard is bare. They have backs that will be more than serviceable in Wells, Saine, Herron, etc., even Pryor can be expected to shoulder a little bit extra now. Plus the Buckeyes still IMO match up well with USC defensively. Again, it is the spread offenses that feature mobile QBs that always trouble OSU, not the conventional 5-7 step drop pocket QBs to which USC is employing. To me this game will be determined by field position, special teams, and our ability to stop the run.

Without an effective Wells, we aren't very effective.
September 12, 200816 yr Right now I have a bet with my buddy from Michigan. I'm taking OSU and the points (10.5), and I feel pretty confident I'll have a $50 spot coming to me in the mail next week. If not, I won't be going out drinking for the next week or so! :drunk:
September 12, 200816 yr While we all know I love me some OSUs (hell, I got both degrees there), I don't feel confident about this one. I'm not going to say "we're gonna lose without Wells" but...let's just say I'm not betting money on this game. But on that note, GO BUCKS! September 13, 200816 yr And that my friends, is the nail in the coffin. Whatever you say, Senator McCain! Virtually no one is expecting Ohio State to knock off USC in the LA Coliseum with Beanie Wells out. We'll see. That's why you play the game on the field. GO BUCKS!
September 14, 200816 yr USC 35 | OSU 3 An ugly, embrassing loss to a strong USC team. When the best of Ohio college football faces the best in the nation, it looks like the rankings of Ohio cities in national survey lists. Disappointing.
September 14, 200816 yr I hope all you Buckeye fans don't go slitting your wrists over this. Remember, it's only a game. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
September 14, 200816 yr Eh, the bright side is...this wasn't the national championship and we'll get them next year. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
September 14, 200816 yr I hope all you Buckeye fans don't go slitting your wrists over this. Remember, it's only a game. I sure hope not! It is just a game. I'm just disappointed that the Bucks didn't make it a competitive and entertaining game.
September 14, 200816 yr pee you -- they stunk up the joint in a big game as usual. tonight it's probably the browns turn. ugh.
September 15, 200816 yr Damn C-Dawg Njaim what happened? did you go to a party @ tOSU and a football player dump his beer on you?
September 15, 200816 yr Damn C-Dawg Njaim what happened? did you go to a party @ tOSU and a football player dump his beer on you? Maybe someone peed in his beer!
September 15, 200816 yr Damn C-Dawg Njaim what happened? did you go to a party @ tOSU and a football player dump his beer on you? Maybe someone peed in his beer! As if that would have stopped him from drinking it!
September 15, 200816 yr Damn C-Dawg Njaim what happened? did you go to a party @ tOSU and a football player dump his beer on you? No, C-Dawg is right. It has become really annoying to be a Buckeye fan and continually listen to fellow fans talk this team up like they are...good. Seriously, for all obvious reasons, they are weak, and it needs to be made known finally. I would hate to be a pro scout looking into Big 10 players and "wondering" if they are good. How would you know.
September 15, 200816 yr At least it happened this soon and we all know wher the Big 10 stands other than Penn State. And don't look to lightly on Troy's spread offense being that Tressel has historically had trouble defending it. I think Troy put up 70 points this week. No game is a sure thing anymore this year. I believe penn will be representing the B10 this year.
September 15, 200816 yr Penn State hasn't played a real game yet.. Syracuse is awful. Ohio State hadn't played a real game since this weekend. They beat OU by 12 pts. I can't make a better case for any other team in the Big 10.
September 15, 200816 yr Wisconsin beat Fresno State who is ranked in the top 25, they also beat Marshall and Akron.. it's better than the crap teams Penn State has played.
September 15, 200816 yr It's the second game of the season. Get a grip! No, try third. C-Dawg is a Hater.
September 16, 200816 yr ^ Big 10 is overrated? They have 4 ranked teams.. I'm not saying Penn State isn't a good team.. but once they beat a couple good teams, I'll believe.
September 16, 200816 yr I don't understand what the point of bashing Ohio State is. Who the hell cares if the Big 10 is weak this year? Conferences have weak years all the time...look at the Pac 10 last year. Just because OSU lost, and lost big, does not mean that OSU athletics are forever doomed, nor does it mean that the Big 10 is always going to be a shitty conference, nor does it mean that Ohio is not capable of producing winning teams. I'm actually transfering to USC in second semester, and while I have no direct connection to Ohio State, and I always cheer for UC athletics rather than OSU, it is still nice to see Ohio teams compete at high levels. I wish nothing but the best for Ohio State, and I think this criticism is unfair, and that one bad season is really not a big deal... And for everyone saying that OSU can't play with anyone other than the Big 10, just ask Texas...
September 16, 200816 yr [shadow=red, left]Hater of Ohio State? Damn Straight. They're the overrated team of the century, even more overrated than my beloved Michigan was last year. This is more hate on the Big Ego Ten than anything else[/shadow] Century??? Come on dude, give it up......Were they overrated in 02? Its not their fault USC lost to Stanford last year, WVU lost to Pitt, and the other teams I can't remember all losing to weaker opponents. Those teams losing allowed tOSU into the NC game which yeah they probably didn't belong, but NO ONE stepped up and earned the right to be there except LSU. The only thing that matters is it's been 1760 days since scUM has beat tOSU!
September 20, 200816 yr OHIO STATE 28 | TROY 10 Who says OSU can't beat the Trojans? Well, you have to start rebuilding somewhere. The Terrell Pryor era has begun. Pryor plays the entire game, except for one series, and throws 4 TD's.
September 21, 200816 yr About time! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
September 22, 200816 yr I went to the game Saturday and saw something I haven't seen in YEARS. Empty seats and a lot of them. South Stands below the scoreboard was empty. Tailgating was down some too. Normally by the time I get my drunk ass up and headed to C'Bus from Dayton we can't park in the really heavy tailgate areas. But, Saturday we drove passed our normal lot and got into one we've never been before. We had a great time though and the Bucks were victorious. Let's hope Pryor can keep it going.
September 22, 200816 yr Look it up C-dawg. Troy is better than Ohio U. They destroyed Mid Tenn who has beaten Maryland and Kentucky. Just b/c they play in the Sun Belt doesn't mean they are a joke. You getting on here and acting like you know something about college football is a joke. Troy is ranked 72nd......OU is 116 out of 120. Nice try though
September 24, 200816 yr No.....the only thing that matters is OSU got the Win w/out their 2 best players on the field (Beanie, TP). In 5 years no one will remember the game was close for 3 quarters. They will only see the final score. Keep reaching though your close to making some good points.
September 24, 200816 yr C-Dawg, OSU Michigan will be as big a game this year as it is any year...maybe even larger with a new head coach at Michigan. No matter what a ranking is (throw them out the window) it really does not matter because each team comes to play in that game just like any rivalry. And no, it won't be a big OSU MSU game. It will probably be a good game as OSU will most likely just sqeek by MSU, but not a heavy publicized big game. Despite what the records are for this season, the BCS will do the Big 10 no favors this year in handing out bowl games as they have in the past. A BCSC game whopping on OSU and a Rose bowl whopping on Illinois last year really didn't help matters.
September 26, 200816 yr OSU defeats USC 27-21! Okay, it's not our "OSU" but Oregon State University. Obviously we softened USC up for the other "OSU".
September 27, 200816 yr OHIO STATE 34 | MINNESOTA 21 OSU wins comfortably over the Golden Gophers. The Bucks were up 34-6 in the 4th quarter before putting in the reserves and Minnesota scoring two late touchdowns. Beanie Wells returns to gain over 100 yds. Pryor looks sharp passing and runs for 2 TD's. Even former starting QB Boeckman throws for a TD.
