September 27, 200816 yr No, USC isn't that good (they are young), and this just makes Ohio State look even worse. USC is that good. It just shows that even a good team can play a bad game (especially on the road). Looking at the way OSU's offense runs with Pryor and Wells on the field, it would have interesting to see an OSU vs. USC game with them playing the way they are now.

October 2, 200816 yr "Tressel: 'Our guys are looking forward' to Camp Randall" No. 18 Wisconsin's home stadium is known as being the most hostile Big Ten environment for the opposition. Because of the 11-team league's revolving schedule of just eight conference games a season, Camp Randall is a place Ohio State hasn't been since 2003. That night the Badgers ended OSU's 19-game winning streak that included the 2002 national championship. Read more at http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2008/09/30/osunews.html?sid=101 ^Actually, I'll bet they aren't. Wisconsin is facing a must-win situation after losing a game they should have won at Michigan. And because of the following... Wisconsin is the only Big Ten team with a winning record against Ohio State coach Jim Tressel. Tressel's mark against all conference teams: 6-0: Indiana, Minnesota 5-0: Michigan State 6-1: Michigan, Northwestern 4-1: Purdue 3-1: Iowa 5-2: Penn State 3-2: Illinois 2-3: Wisconsin 46-11 overall
October 4, 200816 yr Well, it looks like "On Wisconsin" won't be played at tonight's game. Wisconsin band suspended, won't play during OSU game Officials investigate charges of hazing, alcohol abuse and sexual misconduct Saturday, October 4, 2008 - 9:42 AM MADISON, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin marching band has been suspended indefinitely while allegations of hazing, alcohol abuse and sexual misconduct are investigated. The band won't play tonight during a nationally televised football game between the No. 18 Badgers and No. 14 Ohio State at Camp Randall Stadium. The university made the announcement at a hastily called news conference last night, saying the behavior is consistent with conduct that put the band on probation in 2006. October 5, 200816 yr OSU 20 | WISCONSIN 17 Ohio State scores on their final drive for a come-from-behind victory at Camp Randall. Both Pryor and Wells play very well. QB Pryor rushes for the game winning TD with a little over 1:00 to play and an interception clinches the victory.
October 5, 200816 yr i pretty much agree except i think osu can beat the illini and that they will lose to penn state. it was a good, tough win, but i watched and was less than impressed with them in this wisconsin game.
October 5, 200816 yr CDawgNjaim may not like what I have to say, but here goes.... What you witnessed yesterday was the future, and as Pryor becomes more comfortable, look out. He is an athletic freak on par with nothing we've even seen before. The added dimensions he brings to the Ohio St. offense cannot be overstated. Looking at their remaining games, I believe OSU will run the table, including a tough game against Penn St., and EARN a return trip to the National Championship, but against who? The answer: USC. The new AP oll is out and OSU is ranked #12. Take a look at the 11 teams ranked above them and who they have still to play. (not including conference championships) Each team has a game remaining against a top 5 team, with only three exceptions: BYU, USC and Ohio St. And does anyone really think BYU belongs where they do? They BARELY beat a Washington team (28-27) that is 0-5. Oklahoma: home v. #5 Texas, home v. #16 Kansas, home v. #7 Texas Tech, and away v. #17 Oklahoma St. Alabama: away v. #4 LSU, and home v. #20 Auburn Missouri: home v. #17 Oklahoma St., away v. #5 Texas, and home v. #16 Kansas LSU: away v. #11 Florida, home v. #10 Georgia, and home v. #2 Alabama Texas: away v. #1 Oklahoma, home v. #3 Missouri, home v. #17 Oklahoma St., away v. #7 Texas Tech, and away v. #16 Kansas Penn St.: away v. #12 Ohio St., and home v. #23 Michigan St. Texas Tech: away v. #16 Kansas, home v. #5 Texas, home v. #17 Oklahoma St. and away v. #1 Oklahoma USC: NO RANKED OPPONENTS REMAINING BYU: away v. #14 Utah Georgia: home v. #13 Vanderbilt, away v. #4 LSU, home v. #11 Florida, and away v. #20 Auburn Florida: home v. #4 LSU, away v. #10 Georgia, and away v. #13 Vanderbilt The takeaway point to be made from all this is that just about everyone above Ohio St. has absolutely brutal schedules for the second half of the season, this will invariably lead to teams beating up on one another and in so doing, jeopardize their rankings. Fair or not, Ohio St. and USC are both positioned well moving forward...the opportunity is theirs for the taking.
October 5, 200816 yr If that is indeed the case, OSU will get pounded again by USC. I went to the SC game last night (fight on!) and holy shit, did they dominate the fuck out of Oregon. USC is the best team in college football, perhaps tied with a few SEC teams, and their loss to Oregon State was indeed a fluke. I hope OSU goes to the Rose Bowl or something and actually win rather than get crushed in the big game again.
October 11, 200816 yr OSU 16 | PURDUE 3 Ohio State's offense struggled mightily in the red zone. However, a stout defense, three field goals and blocked punt returned for a touchdown was enough to best the Boilermakers on this Saturday afternoon.

October 13, 200816 yr OSU actually lost votes since last week, despite winning, which illustrates how unconvincing their game was against Purdue.
October 13, 200816 yr It didn't help OSU's cause any that Penn St. walked all over Wisconsin. The weight of that victory does not carry as much influence since they have yet to win a Big Ten game. Also, notice how many 1 loss teams are still ahead of OSU in the polls. OSU will need to not only run the table, but hope that a number of teams all lose 2x....I tihnk it is safe ot say that OSU is no longer overrated, at least not as much as previously, esp. when you have a 1loss Missouri team still ahead of them.
October 13, 200816 yr I just don't know who to root for....I have no ties to either school. well, if you think about it that's not exactly true...
October 18, 200816 yr ^eh, Purdue sucks. Honestly, I'm surprised OSU didn't get a bigger win. I'm excited for next week though. That could be one of the best Big Ten games this season. ...or not. At least by next week's Michigan State game, we'll have a good idea how good/bad Ohio State is this season- finally, some real competition! BTW, I'm not counting Wisconsin as "competition" since they lost to Michigan, Michigan lost to Toledo, and Toledo lost to Florida International. And I think it's fair Michigan State moved up this week. They looked good on Saturday and they may be the only Big Ten team that's actually underrated. Ohio State could have their work cut out for them. I think that Michigan State was as impressive as Ohio University against OSU. October 18, 200816 yr OSU 45 | MICHIGAN STATE 7 Pryor, Wells and the Ohio State defense run roughshod over the Spartans. Ohio State builds up a 28-0 halftime lead en route to a 45-7 blowout.
October 19, 200816 yr I saw in the AP OSU moved up to #10. Next Sat night should be a great one(which the conference needs). The best 2 teams in the B10 by a mile.

October 21, 200816 yr no surprise, but espn is pimping the osu-ps game hard on their shows this week.
October 21, 200816 yr That would be great to see OSU play USC again on a neutral site with their best 2 offensive players in the game.
October 21, 200816 yr there is growing movement for a "red out" at the game Saturday. which would be very cool, but it does not have the same ring to it as a "black out" or a "white out" but i'll take whatever advantage I can...
October 25, 200816 yr ESPN's College Game Day broadcast from The Ohio State University today. LeBron James was there as guest picker and picked OSU to win. King James and all four of Kirk Herbstreit's sons were on hand to see Lee Corso don the Brutus Buckeye headgear.

October 26, 200816 yr PENN STATE 13 | OHIO STATE 6 Tough loss for the bucks. Defense and field goals rule the night until a Pryor fumble in the fourth quarter sets up Penn State's only touchdown to take the lead. Credit Penn State with a mistake-free game, no turnovers and no penalties.

November 10, 200816 yr I'm glad to see that Cincy is ranked. Ohio State should've moved up from 11 though in my opinion.
November 14, 200816 yr Hypothetically, what happens if Michigan State beats Penn State and Ohio State wins out? Michigan State and Ohio State would be tied. Who gets the Big Ten title? OSU beat MSU, but then OSU lost to Penn State who MSU beat. God, I wish they would just have a conference championship game if this situation plays out... The Big 10 does not utilize tiebreakers when determining conference champions in football. Teams with the same record will be "co-champs". So if Ohio St and Michigan St / Penn State finish with 1 conference loss, the two 1 loss teams will be co-champs. Few people realize/remember when Ohio St won the National Championship in 2002, they were Co-Big 10 champs with Iowa. Standard tie-breakers apply for who goes to the Rose Bowl. So if Michigan State wins out and Ohio State wins out, you will likely be seeing Ohio St/USC part II in the Rose Bowl.
November 15, 200816 yr OHIO STATE 30 | ILLINOIS 20 OSU takes care of business in windy Champaign. Pryor runs for one touchdown and throws for another. Both Wells and Pryor run for over 100 yards. November 18, 200816 yr this just in: The Michigan-OSU game has been canceled because Michigan can't get past Toledo.
November 21, 200816 yr Who knows what will happen at Ohio Stadium tomorrow? Sure OSU is a 19 point favorite over Michigan. But OSU still needs to show up and take UM seriously. That's why they play the game. Most of the OSU/UM games are very close (especially the last two years - remember that great OSU 42 - UM 39 game in 2006?). But there have been some blowouts. In 1968, Woody's boys dominated UM 50-14 on route to a national title. But don't feel too sorry for Michigan. There were two UM blowouts from the Cooper era: 1991 - UM 31-OSU 3 (and the infamous Desmond Howard heisman pose TD) and 1993 UM 28-OSU 0.

November 22, 200816 yr OHIO STATE 42 | MICHIGAN 7 Michigan hung in the game with OSU leading 14-7 at halftime. But unable to score on their opening drive of the second half and turning possession to OSU, the rout was on. Strong Buckeye defense and weak Michigan offense adds up to 42-7. Tressel wins his fifth straight OSU/UM game. I never thought I'd say this, but I actually feel sorry for the UM fans this year. Another thing I thought I wouldn't say is that C-Dawg was right . . . Michigan is terrible this year.
November 22, 200816 yr Michigan won't be much better next year either. The lack of talent on both sides of the ball was evident today. No playmakers.
November 22, 200816 yr As much fun as it is for OSU fans to root against Michigan, I don't want UM to be this bad. The fun of the OSU/UM rivalry game is that both teams are good. If Michigan stays bad, then I fear that this rivalry would go the way the Oklahoma-Nebraska rivalry game has -- into irrelevancy.
November 23, 200816 yr Penn State clinches Rose Bowl berth in impressive fashion with a 49-18 rout of the Spartans. If only the Nits wouldn't have had that lapse against their annual tormentor Iowa.
