December 3, 201014 yr I love the airplane movies. Especially when he asks the flight attendent what we had for dinner LN: What was it we have for dinner tonight? FA: We had a choice, steak or fish. LN: Yes...yes...I remember I the lasagna. These movies are so silly.
December 3, 201014 yr I read a great article on Leslie Neilsen after his passing about how all of his years (20+)as the straight dramatic actor made him the perfect person to play the spoof of the serious whitebread guy in the Airplane and Naked Gun/Police Squad movies and shows. It also had a good point about what made those spoofs so great is that they spoofing a serious but stereotypical genre (disaster movie/police dramas) and how the spoof movies of today fall flat because the spoof movies of today are spoofing movies that are already spoofing movies (ie Scary Movie series and Scream) Hmmm. When I find it I will post a link to the article.
December 3, 201014 yr Mourn him all you want... just don't call him Shirley! 2nd best slapstick actor of all time IMO... right behind Peter Sellers. Ironically, I believe Neilsen was a "serious" actor up to Airplane. Him and P Presley were pricless in the Naked Gun films. "Nice beaver" "Thanks. I just had it stuffed last week."
December 15, 201014 yr Awww. I watched the Naked Gun movies a bunch when I was younger: didn't take long for me to be a fan.
