*** that’s all from a snowy and windy blizzard! ***

Thanks for all the pics....and the people in Chardon are saying...yeah....so.

There's going to be some serious flooding...

ha yeah the snow was a chardon-like lake effect 20-30 inches....but the 70mph wind gusts....!

Even though it looks amazingly cold and the city is at a standstill, it is beautiful.

I have to pay my neighbors son for clearing the sidewalk.  He said the snow in my front garden was up to his butt.  NYC looks a mess.

Nice pics. I love how the sun usually shines brightly the day after nor'easters. I would take an east coast winter over a Cincinnati winter any day.

Yessir! Snow usually doesn't hang around long on the east coast.

I love these photos, wish I could have been there to take my own.

That's insane. Awesome photos. Definitely wouldn't want to have to deal with all of that, but it still looks awesome.

That is crazy! Great photos.

Wow, nice.  It's really fun to look at pictures of NY like that without all the cars and people.  And then we're getting that warm-up this weekend......  Have fun with that!

If I didn't have to go to a work related function tomorrow, my ass would be in front of fire, playing cards, while my dad make some sort of sandwich concoction with all the leftover meat.

On top the snow it's cold.  It felt warmer in Cleveland.

the most surprising aspect of this storm (compared with past New York blizzards I've experienced) was the number of abandoned buses in the streets. I had never seen that before. My block, part of a crosstown bus route, had one stuck in the middle of the street, fully impeding any traffic. I wonder if passengers were reimbursed their fare.

On facebook and twitter, they've been showing the snow at stations.  Some of those stations in Brooklyn, those in the "cut" were completely snowed in.  I had no idea Brooklyn was hit so bad.  I just saw that the Rockaway shuttle isn't running.

NYCers, are the locals giving any weight to the post story that the city workers used this as on opportunity to make the mayor look bad?

Incredible.  Though I bet the kids loved it.  You could build a pretty big snow fort.

Great pics. But saying a "windy" blizzard is redundant. You can't have a blizzard without wind (sustained above 35 mph for 3 hours or more) but you can have a blizzard without snow (although there does need to be snow on the ground that can be wind-driven).

One of Cleveland's worst blizzards was the 1978 storm, even though only 7 inches of snow fell. But the winds stayed SUSTAINED at more 50 mph for 3 hours, and gusted to 100+ mph along the lakefront.

And one of the worst blizzards to ever hit New York state was the 1977 blizzard that hit Buffalo. Only five inches of snow fell, but 60-75 mph winds kicked up the 37 inches already on the ground and the windstorm lasted for several days. This was the aftermath...

great information roker, but you forgot to add the bit about 'visibility of a quarter mile or less.' apparantly all of these conditions are needed to be an official blizzard.

if you have to research back over 30+ yrs to find similar storm comparisons it says a lot about the magnitude of this storm, which was a category two or three hurricane. the oddest thing was that beside all the snow and wind it had weird thunder (thundersnow) and lightning all night long too:

Apparently, "NYC" stands for "NancYassesConfirmed"! ;-)
