Posted December 28, 201014 yr Hey guys, my sister just got engaged and has enlisted my help in finding a prime location for a wedding/reception. I, in turn, am coming to the people that know the unique places in the city the best. Any ideas?
December 28, 201014 yr The Verdin Bell Event Center in Pendelton is a really cool place with a lot of history & character. My brother in law had his wedding & reception there. http://www.belleventcentre.com/asp/index.asp
December 28, 201014 yr We did our reception at Union Terminal, a killer locale and they just rehabbed the reception area, but it wasn't cheap!
December 28, 201014 yr +2 for Ault Park. I'm more of the 'crunchy granola' type, so I could even do Mt.Airy Forest. I realize that wouldn't work for a lot of people, but my wedding would certainly have to be outdoors.
December 28, 201014 yr Stay away from the Madison in Covington. I photographed a wedding there this year and the "wedding rooms" and the reception halls are very ugly. There is exposed conduit, lots of pillars, and a low ceiling.
December 28, 201014 yr Find out a budget, and a size, then check out theknot.com http://www.theknot.com/Vendors/Cincinnati-Dayton-Wedding-Venues/Profiles/CAR/035 The Pheonix is great on a budget. The Cincinnati Club is GORGEOUS. The Hilton Netherland Hall of Mirrors is what you do if money is no object. If they are more into the burbs, there is the Manor House in ChestWesterMasonville. Taft Museum and the Art Museum are very nice, the Underground Railroad Museum is a nice modern space, but the setting may not be appropriate. We did ours at the Millenium downtown, which worked well for our size. If you have any questions, shoot me a message, I can try to help.
December 28, 201014 yr >The Hilton Netherland Hall of Mirrors is what you do if money is no object. My cousin's reception is there next May, after a wedding at Old St. Mary's. The women in my family got angry when I suggested that the wedding party travel between sites via segways. If the streetcar was in operation, the whole wedding would only have to park their cars once. Instead, there's going to be a big clumsy migration of cars, with no shortage of complaints about parking at each site.
December 28, 201014 yr We did our reception at Union Terminal, a killer locale and they just rehabbed the reception area, but it wasn't cheap! I went to a wedding & reception there years ago & the museum area was open, too. Had a beer on a streetcar.

January 3, 201114 yr I have attended two receptions and one wedding at Memorial Hall. I think the prices are reasonable if that is a concern.
January 3, 201114 yr We had ours at the Holiday Inn in Eastgate and I have been to a couple others there. It may seem like just a run of the mill place but the ballroom is very nice (nicer than you would expect for a suburban hotel) and they really do a phenomenal job with weddings. Their wedding package is top notch and very affordable. We were choosing between the Cincinnati Club, Millenium, Phoenix, and Holiday Inn and the Holiday INn provided twice as much for around $5000 less then the other places. Granted, it is not downtown, but they did a great job.
January 4, 201114 yr I'm curious...how much is the Cincinnati Club? I went to a prom there and I remember the space being pretty nice.
January 10, 201114 yr Thanks for the advice everyone, they've selected St.Clare Chapel in Hartwell for the wedding and the Harrison Room at the Cincinnati Club for the reception! Jake, the Cincinnati Club has different rooms with different capacities and costs but the Harrison Room was $825 for a Friday
January 10, 201114 yr That's not as bad as I thought. BTW I just talked to my cousin and she's inviting 400 guests to her wedding in May at Old St. Mary's. There will be 18 people in the wedding party. This might be the biggest wedding in downtown Cincinnati in 2011.
