I hear they're casting the second season/book right nowThen the third book is supposed to be split into two seasons.

Really?  News to me.

This is correct, they are still finishing casting for the second season which will start in 2012.

Which makes me cry. This is the most epic fantasy TV series ever.

That statement is not correct.  TRUST ME.  What is correct:  The 2nd season will start sometime in Late March/April 2012.  However, there are many moving pieces, still to be worked out.  It's very expensive and number of episodes is still to be decided.

Is Game of Thrones a mini-series or will there be more seasons?  Anyone who watched on Sunday will know why I am asking...

Ba-lalalalalala! Haven't seen it yet!!

This TV series is based on A Song of Fire and Ice by George RR Martin. I think there are 7 books to the series. Game of thrones is the first book.

Edit: G-d@ammit! If they're going to draw this out, how the heck am I supposed to cancel HBO?

Cancel HBO?!  WTF?!

Maybe MTS has info I don't.

There are only 4 books right now and I'm pretty sure Game of Thrones was the shortest.  Book 5 is supposedly due out next month.

I'm sure I do.  Considering this what I do for work!

^ Right, I realized after I posted. He's projecting going as far as 7. Hopefully he doen't have Robert 'I love every word I write and couldn't possibly edit a single thing' Jordan syndrome, and just keep going and going and going.

Nevertheless, I'm going to cancel all my movie channels, and go to Netflix. I can't afford this bill anymore. I'm not hanging on until next spring.

The "N" word!  I've lost all respect for you! (hand to your face)

If you've read the third book you know exactly why they're splitting that into two seasons, there's one doozie of a midbook climax.  Also, they need to give George time to write the sixth and seventh books.

I love it when people tell me what's happening on my job.  :o

^^^actually I'm going to sign up for WHT

My info about the 3rd book split was from a second hand account of GRRM's blog.  So take it with a grain of salt, it's just internet chatter from another board and I'm no expert or insider.  I'm just really glad the show's popular, and I hope those who haven't seen it yet can keep away from spoilers till they do.

I'm watching Eureka and Warehouse 13.  Really bumming that they've cancelled Eureka past 2012 (each filmed season has been aired over 2yrs).  I blame MTS's doppleganger over at Comcast.  Obviously he has too many assistants and thus my favorite show has been cancelled ;)

Also got pointed to The Mercury Men available through various online channels at www.mercuryseries.com.  I enjoyed it, very well put together  I'm going to really try and follow shows like this since in SciFi genre shows talented ensemble + CGI = big fat target at corporate level budgeting all too often.

Also really wish Mad Men hadn't gotten pushed back; this summer has felt especially empty.  I think I'll check out Wilfred next.  I haven't heard anything good or bad about it but I hear and see the name often enough.

True Blood!  I just want to say that last night's episode had me laughing all the way through the morning.  Nan and Lafayette need their own show.

The movie "The Escape Artist" directed by Coppola in 1982. It's one of his less known movies, but it was filmed in Cleveland. Great shots of the Franklin Castle, City Hall, and the old Westbank of the Flats.

Sons of Anarchy is damn addicting, plus netflix just put up season 3!

It's Always Sunny just put up a great season 7, after a very odd and disappointing season 6.

The League is getting to be my favorite show period.

Parks is still going strong, plus Archer is pretty solid. Also, I've been marathoning Home Movies and the Oblongs. I don't know how the hell I missed those series when they came out, but they're hilarious.

I rarely watch other studios work, but baby will I miss American Horror Story!  Ms. Constance was fierce!  I hope that she'll be back next season.

Mad Men started back up last week and this week was Game of Thrones.  GoT premiere was absolutely fantastic and they even managed to make the "sexposition" scene work to a certain extent.  Mad Men has been pretty decent so far, it beats the pants off of watching The Walking Dead hanging out at the farm all season long.

I dropped HBO, so I'll have to wait for GoT to come out on DVD  :x

The GoT season premier met expectations.  It is the first show since Lost ended that I will faithfully watch each week.  I did think they went a little overboard with the final scene.  There are ways to tell parts of a story without actually showing it.

Marathoning mad men. I'm trying to get into it (middle of season 2), but it's taking some effort. Too many unlikeable characters is the problem, with some slow pacing here and there.

I started watching Mad Men on Netflix a couple weeks ago. It hasn't caught on with me yet. Started watching Weeds at the same time, and that's got a little more promise.

I was watching Breaking Bad but had to tap out after the end of the second season. Interesting show, but it's too depressing for me.

The Game of Thrones premier was fantastic I thought.  My wife and I have been faithful viewers of that show (and Boardwalk Empire) from episode 1.  HBO's new comedy 'Life's Too Short' has also been a pleasant surprise.  I also have high expectations for HBO's upcoming series 'Newsroom'.  'Girls' looks funny too, but I'm not sure your allowed to be excited for that show if you're a man...

YEAH!  Smart kid!

I love "Mad Men." I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but it clicks with me. Unfortunately, I don't have cable, so I'll have to "find" a place to see the new season. At this very moment, I'm watching a Juliette Binoche movie (Certified Copy)...

I'm a huge Mad Men fan.  My fiance and I watched all the Seasons 1-4 and finished the Saturday before the premiere.  I think the duality of the characters is so intriguing.  It's nearly impossible to get a grasp on who is a "good guy" or "bad guy" and that perception changes week to week.

Sterling just kills me with his one liners.

Roger is my favorite so far

I find ... whats-her-face ...jon hamm's secretary now copy writer to be the lamest character.

Eh for a basic cable program.  ::)

The Leftovers has me hooked.  I am only concerned that it is going to be one of those shows in which the suspense of what happened is going to be great, but not the ultimate answer of what happened.

Just wrapped up Battlestar Galactica (the new series, not the 70's Lorne Greene version) on Netflix a couple weeks ago. Overall a great series, but I'm still upset about the ending. Seriously, what the F@#K?

A great example of a show that started off slow (I almost bailed a couple episodes in), but got much better as it matured. I really like how they tie in the movie events in real time with the series and, I presume, vice versa.

I hate to admit it, but I'm watching:

  • Tyrant
  • Too Cute (everyone MUST watch this show)
  • Hell's Kitchen
  • The Strain (read the books first)
  • Top Chef Duels

There are several shows I watch that are on hiatus.

House of Cards as of now.  Finished up Breaking Bad and True Detective last week.  Most of my shows are on hiatus, as mentioned earlier.

Watch Fargo - it was awesome.  And for those that have Time Warner (not sure about other providers), you can watch it all for free on the channel "Entertainment on Demand" - channel 1402 in Cleveland.

We really enjoyed Breaking Bad.  I heard they were coming out with another season focusing it around Saul Goodman.

Here and there, we're watching Orange is the New Black.  It's OK.  My wife seems to like it better than me.

Saul is getting his own show, which will be a prequel to Breaking Bad.  Some of the characters may make cameos.

Did an "orange is the new black" marathon as well.  Its was ok.

We've got the Hannibal one here at work!

I'm halfway through season two of House of Cards. Then I'm going to wrap up Breaking Bad. I was a few eps into season 3 and had to take a break from it.

MTS, did you read The Strain? Should I record the series and watch it after I read? I watched the first episode, and so far I wasn't blown away. Seemed like a slow moving vampire / walking dead type show.

Anyone ever watch The League?  It's somewhat comical.

^^I watch it sporadically. I record it, and then my wife deletes because she thinks I have too many shows I'm recording. But the 85 episodes of SpongeBob, that we need to keep. It's not like that show isn't on 24 hours a day.

Along the same lines, I do love Archer. This last season was priceless.

Haha, I taped The Simpsons a bunch when I was a teen. I tell myself, "Just think, you could have taped all kinds of weird unusual stuff back then -- stuff no one else has, stuff not on Youtube -- but instead you taped a show that's still on four times a day on the rabbit ears"

^in your defense having 62 episodes of the Simpsons on tape did give you a lot of cred back in the day.

OITNB and Catching Fire here.

Yes, read the books.  I usually read books prior to watching any tv shows, especially since it's required.  I read every book of GOT and TSV series and The Strain is really good.  The Straint has a lot of upfront character development.
