Looks like you'll have to go to Columbus. They're not showing it in CLE.

I`m watching this old hippie road movie called Easy Rider. I can`t believe that`s Jack Nicholson! Him, Dennis Hopper, and Peter Fonda are smoking weed and he`s going on about alien/ufo conspiracies/cover-ups. It`s so funny to me because word-for-word, people still say the same exact stuff 40 years later.

Thing 1 and I have been watching ALF all day.  I love the fuzzy little mofo!

Up next the Powder Puff Girl and Mojo Jojo!

ALF!! What do you people do in that office all day??

BTW, Permanent Midnight is a great movie!

The Powerpuff girls is oddly hilarious. Don't know what Mojo Jojo is.

This is an entertainment and media company.  I watch TV all day!  We have 8 TV's in here. I need to know whats going on on TV, internet, mobile devices, and print.  If you can't examine self, you can't crush the competition!

Don't know what Mojo Jojo is.

He's the evil genius monkey scientist from Power Puff Girls...Jeez, don't cha know anything.

How can you have kids and not know who Mojo Jojo is!  :whip:  tsk, tsk, tsk.

The kids haven't seen the PPG yet. I remember watching the show years ago...I'm pretty sure I was drunk at the time.

I've just recently become aware of Boomerang. I came home last night and they were watching Speed Buggy!

Ok, this weekend I watched:

Hustle and Flow

The Hangover (again!!!)

A moive about Ted Bundy(which was rather disturbing)

and I think that's it.  I actually had a life this weekend!

Huh. The hangover is good? I never saw it. I went into Blockbuster the other day and didn`t really see anything appealing that I haven`t already seen. I ended up getting "The Kids Are Alright." I asked my dude Jason, the manager, if it was any good since it got good reviews from critics. He said he liked it but a lot of the patrons have a problem with it, were offended, found it repulsive since its about a lesbian couple with kids. Apparently I live in a seriously conservative, Protestant area lol. I watched it and thought it was really good but I could have done without the scene where the two lesbian moms were watching gay male porn (how does that even make sense?) but overall its a pretty good movie! I go into Blockbuster about every other day and I don`t think I`ve ever seen The Hangover in there!

^ I think your reaction to the lesbians watching gay male porn was the point of that scene. You're supposed to wonder about it, then realize that sexuality doesn't have to make sense or follow your idea of how things "should" work. People like what they like because it's what they like. Dig?

On one hand I dig what you`re saying but it still makes little sense to me. If you`re sexuality is that broad, then it has to cause some serious cognitive dissonance.

I don't really know what you mean. I would think a bisexual woman would have a "broader" sexuality than a lesbian who likes watching gay male porn. And most bisexual women seem to get along okay, without "cognitive dissonance".

This might be a weird example, but I think it might help illustrate the point:

Imagine someone who finds it kind of hot to watch animals go at it on the Discovery Channel, but has no desire whatsoever to get with an animal. Doesn't that sound believable? So while a hypothetical lesbian doesn't want to get with a dude, she might like watching two dudes go at it.

Most girls, straight or gay, don't like seeing two guys getting it on. Gay men are the vast, predominant market for gay porn.

Ninja, animal porn is the worst analogy ever, to prove a point like yours! lol. They were using it to get in the mood. Porn is an outlet to indulge in a fantasy based on what turns you on. There`s a huge difference between checking something out in the interest of curiosity vs. something to get turned on to. Maybe I thought it was weird b/c its as if they portrayed it as anything deviant (don`t debate the use of that word with me please, I have a headache already) or taboo is a turn-on. I can`t relate to them but I know I only get turned on by what I`m wired and conditioned to be attracted to--in my case women. They`re straight up lesbionic so it made no sense to me. Sorry for the unprofessional conversation you guys. Maybe we do need a human sexuality thread though; that would be interesting. Hah. It is our primal drive.

^^ That doesn`t surprise me. I think women are a lot different than men (gay or straight)  in that respect. A lot of women seem to have a confused sexual orientation. They`ll go through a lesbian phase like its nothing because they love the attention from the other woman or from guys (usually when they`re young) or because they were in a bad relationship with a dude and they`re desparate for affection or want to try something different. Guys aren`t likely at all to swing from one side to the other like that. I can`t say I blame them though; women are pretty d@mn amazing. :P

TBideon: So? "Most" doesn't mean anything in this discussion.

David: Your views on sexuality are way too reductionist. Just accept that people have attractions you don't understand, and you'll be better off. (Also realize, many times, the people who have them don't "understand" them -- they just have them.)

I'd argue more men have confused orientations than women, precisely because women are more willing to experiment, and experiment openly. There doesn't seem to be a major "down-low" scene for women, for example. That, to me, is a sign of confused orientation. Much more so than feeling an urge and just seeing where it takes you.

(Movie spoiler alert) You also ignore the part of the movie where the one "lesbian" gets with a dude. The whole plot is based on the fluidity/non-concreteness of sexuality. Maybe that's why so many other renters were left so uncomfortable with it -- it challenged their black & white view of sexuality. Is she really a lesbian? She seems to think so. Who gets to decide what she is? It's not black & white.

I've really been enjoying "an idiot abroad" on the science channel. No idea why a travel show produced by Ricky Gervais is on the Science Channel, but that's beside the point. Still a funny show.

^ Oddly enough I was just reading an article in one of my wife's magazine on a sexuality study using videos, where they measured men and women's physical arousal as well as the particpants opinions on what they found attractive, including animals. Men's opinions lined up with their physical response. Straight men like man and women, and two women. Gay men like two guys. Neither group of guys found animals arousing. Women were all over the place. Their opinions of what they like pretty much lined up with orientation, but their physical arousal was much more broad, including the animal videos for some.

I am game for this new Holiday, anybody have a classic Ferrari (or a Miata would work too) that I can borrow ? So I can recreate Ferris Bueller's Day Off: the Cleveland version. Just need to make sure that the Tribe are in town and the Terminal Tower obeservation deck (instead of Sears Tower) is open...

Your Newest Holiday: June 5th Is Ferris Bueller's Day Off

By Ray Gustini |

Ever since Ferris Bueller looked out his suburban Chicago bedroom window and declared, "How could I possibly be expected to handle high school on a day like this?" his day off has been an inspiration for people trapped in offices and classrooms on those bright, sunny days when the tedium of work seems cruel and unusual. Until now, the exact date three teenagers skipped school, drove an antique Ferrari into downtown Chicago, looked at some art, went to a Cubs game, briefly united the entire city in song, and destroyed an antique Ferrari, was unknown. But thanks to some heroic statistical sleuthing by Baseball Prospectus's Larry Granillo, we know the date: June 5, 1985.

^ Cleveland would have to have some kind of parade, so I could sing Danke Schoen.

Oops forgot about the parade. That could be a tough one... We'll just have to stage our own Ferris Bueller Day parade.

I was on wiki trying to figure out the sequence of everything he did  and apparently John Hughes just stuck a float in the parade for filming and very few people knew about it. Then they shot the close ups of the parade the next day and he had 10,000 people show up by word of mouth.

I can't remember if I mentioned this on here before, but I read in Variety a while back that 'they' were trying to develop a script to a sequel for Ferris Bueller, and reuniting the cast. The idea would have been that Ferris is middle aged now, taking stock of his life, which by all accounts is fairly mediocre.

I hated the idea. Ferris lives forever in my memory as a high school senior with limitless potential. I don't need some fat, shlubby Ferris bringing me down. I can look in the mirror to see that guy!

There was a blip in the wiki article about John Hughes and Matthew Broderick were discussing sequels and they felt the same way as you do AJ.

The one idea that they came up with that they did  like was Ferris and Cameron were old, and Ferris breaks Cameron out of the nursing home that he has checked himself into because he still thinks he's dying, and they hit the town, going to strip club and such...

Unless there is a compelling story to tell with a movie like this, it's better off leaving it alone. Just because you can make $$ selling out a sequel, doesn't mean you should. Next thing you know, you have Ferris Bueller 6: City Under Siege

^ Agreed. Especially when a movie is about capturing the moment.

I saw that ad for Fast and the Furious 5 :Fast 5 during the superbowl and thought they were close approaching Police Academy.

Police Academy 5: C.O.P Citizens On Patrol

I just rentef My Cousin Vinny! Love that movie. I also got "Tokyo!" Slumdog Millionaire" and Men who stare at goats". Any of them good?

Slumdog was good. The odd thriller like dance scene at the end was bizzare, but I guess typical for Bollywood films.

Edit: BTW, don't worry, I didn't give anything away. The dancing has nothing to do with the movie. It's an add on where the cast is dancing to an Indian pop song.

General Hospital has also been very good lately. The major storyline involves a young man (was 17 at the time) coming to terms with being raped in prison by some scumbag (who was hired by James Franco to do the act, no joke).  This young actor is just incredible - he's bound to win some Daytime Emmy and Soap awards.

I never understood the stigma of soap actors.  What they do compared to nighttime drama actors is just incredible

^I read about this on some online site, and I used to watch GH back in the day when Jagger and Karen were on.  Now, I wish I was still watching it!

Wow, yeah AJ, that dance scene at the end was totally random. I thought it was good though. I was getting kinda misty-eyed at the end and rooting him. This "Tokyo!" movie bores me. It has subtitles! I hate subtitles. It`s already a surreal movie and subtitles are distracting, causing me to not understand what is going on. Has anyone actually seen Men Who Stare At Goats? It was like the only new release I haven`t seen. That has to be the most boring, uninteresting title ever for a movie...ever.

Seen it, it wasn't good.

I don`t know if I even want to watch it. I need to stop binging on movies at Blockbuster and head to imdb first lol. I think I just like going in there to talk about movies with the people who work there. I didn`t ask them about that movie. I`m starting to hate how so much of the store is pre-viewed movies for sale. They very rarely have old classics that I`m looking for because half tthe shelf space is used for over-priced movies for sale. With netflix and Redbox gaining market share, Blockbuster needs to know their niche in having a much bigger variety of movies available, particulary older and rare movies.

Watched 'Conviction' last night..... meh.

Watched 'The Big Chill' this past weekend.  I almost forgot how good that movie was.  Definitely forgot how good the soundtrack was... maybe the best of all time IMHO.  Kevin Costner plays the dead body btw (you never see his face).

David, your tildes are giving me a headache! :)

Take an ibuprofen, man. You`ll be alright.

^ Why do you insist on using the wrong punctuation?

What am I doing ? Is there a glitch in my phone or something wrong with the keypad? That`s weird, it shows up normal for me. I haven`t accessed this site from my computer in a while; I can`t believe you guys are just now telling me this.

The font on your phone is probably the problem.  Check if there's another apostrophe looking key to pick from when you go to the #s/special/punctuation keyboard.  (I'm assuming you're using a virtual keyboard if not disregard)

What you're doing is using the backwards-apostrophe ("open single quote"? What is it supposed to be called?) instead of the normal apostrophe. If you can see it, you're using ` versus '. On a normal keyboard, the one you're using gives you a tilde (~) if you press it with the shift key. The normal apostrophe gives you quotation marks with the shift key (").

shift + ' = "

shift + ` = ~

You're using the latter. Get it? Or is that too confusing? LOL.

I got it. I hate this keypad. Is this button showing up as an apostrophe '''''' ' ' That's There's Who's. Is that the only punctual error? Please send me a pm, I don't want to derail this thread any more.

Just to follow up with my complimenting General Hospital,

Michael, Jason & Carly ~ Carly Learns Of The Rape ~ 2/1/11

Despite the stigmas that daytime soaps may have, I'd say this scene is just masterful on every level.  The acting, the pacing, the storyline, the realism - it's just damn good storytelling.  And all the credit goes to Michael's performance.

Hooked on Police Women of Cincinnati, but it seems like every other call is on Reading or Victory, and there's a lot of talk about how unsafe OTR is.

I think the cover is blown on the vice cop driving the Infiniti QX SUV (cool ride for a cop car!).  She's got a pretty distinctive look, and she's gonna be wearing that ski mask permanently after all this face time on TV.

You got it now.

^ <3                                                Police women of Cincinnati... Is that on tv? What channel? Are any of them hot? Reading is very bad depending on what part you are on. As far as I know, police work within a certain district so that's probably why you don't see much of OTR despite hearing so much about it.

^ It's on TLC, Thursday nights.

You do see quite a lot of OTR. I think all the cops on the show are from districts 1 and 4. So lots of OTR/West End/Avondale/etc.
