I looked and didnt see any thread for Ohio City for non construction/projects

So here is the Discussion thread for the Ohio City neighborhood.

I was in Ohio City last month and I noticed that they have really poor crosswalk lights. I think that is something that needs to be addressed to make the neighborhood more walking friendly. I took the train over(I feel like the stop needs to tie into west 25th better) and when I got to the cross walk, it was almost impossible to see. Not really safe and not a good first impression. It didn't really affect my opinion of course, but for someone from the outside, it could.

They should dig a tunnel under Lorain and 25th from the rapid station underground platform to the park

Yes because RTA has all this money it does not know what to do with.

Neighbor Giving unites Ohio City seniors and culinary innovators

More than 10 Ohio City restaurants team up to provide seniors at Riverview Terrace with a sampling of the neighborhood’s culinary best

Cleveland (November 26, 2012) – Senior residents of Riverview Terrace will not have to travel far to enjoy the culinary offerings of Ohio City, as more than 10 restaurants will team up, bringing their signature dishes to them during Neighbor Giving on November 28.

Neighbor Giving; led by Ohio City, Inc., Councilman Joe Cimperman and restaurateur Alan Glazen, will provide food and entertainment to seniors living within the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority’s Riverview Terrace complex. The event is seen as a means to better acquaint the complex’s seniors and a number of local eateries who are helping to reshape and redefine one of Cleveland’s oldest neighborhoods.

“A lot of amazing changes are taking place in and around Ohio City and it’s being led by a number of innovative and generous restaurants,” said Councilman Cimperman. “Neighbor Giving is the perfect way to give back to many seniors who call Riverview Terrace and Ohio City home.  These seniors are a key element to the rebirth of this neighborhood and I feel it’s time we connect, or re-connect, them to businesses who are working hard to improve the quality of life in Ohio City.”

·         Participating restaurants in Neighbor Giving include:

·         ABC Tavern

·         Bon Bon

·         Crop

·         Dave’s

·         Flying Fig

·         Good to Go

·         Great Lakes Brewing Company

·         Humble Pie

·         Light Bistro

·         Nano Brew

·         Nate’s Deli and Restaurant

·         Orale

·         SoHo

“Neighbor Giving is a perfect example of Ohio City’s story. The seniors of Riverview Terrace and the artisan restaurateurs are equal components in the continued growth of the neighborhood,” said Eric Wobser, Executive Director, Ohio City Incorporated. “We are truly thankful for our residents, our businesses, and their collective leadership with Councilman Cimperman for their efforts to build bridges in Ohio City.”

WHAT:  Neighbor Giving. More than 10 Ohio City area restaurants come together to provide the seniors of Lakeview Terrace with a free meal and entertainment

WHEN:  12-2 p.m., Wednesday, November 28

WHERE:  Riverview Terrace, 1795 W. 25th Street, in the community room

About Riverview Terrace

Riverview Terrace was constructed in 1963 and is located atop the Cuyahoga River bluff overlooking downtown Cleveland. It has majestic views up and down the river, and the presence of the fifteen-story, 660 foot-long high-rise tower designated for seniors is a west side landmark. Riverview is located in the Ohio City neighborhood which contains an interesting mixture of land uses and a diverse population.  The area continues the resurgence in new construction of homes and commercial establishments and has become a popular restaurant and entertainment district in the city of Cleveland.

Young, highly educated professionals beat a path to Ohio City's door

June 09, 2016

A four-minute Wall Street Journal video and accompanying story use Ohio City as the focal point to examine why “a wave of young, educated, high-earning workers are flooding city neighborhoods … creating challenges and opportunities for urban development.”

The video is a fun watch. Among the highlights:

• A couple, Joe and Melanie Baur, both of whom grew up in the suburbs, explain why parks, walkable streets, diversity and other factors have made them converts to the city.

• Bar/restaurant owner Sam McNulty, who moved to Ohio City 13 years ago, recounts the remarkable progress made since the neighborhood was filled with vacant storefronts and unsavory activity. A big reason for the success, he says: Ohio City is lively, diverse and “not a monoculture.”

• Median income in the past decade in Ohio City has risen to $93,000 from $23,000.

• Storefront vacancy is down to 2%, according to Tom McNair, executive director of Ohio City Inc.

• Median home value has risen dramatically since 2000 to $270,000.

As a daily Red Line rider from Lakewood to Tower City this is very apparent from Gordon Square all the way to the W25. I would say over 200 mature trees have been cut down, and that's a conservative estimate. Completely unnecessary in my opinion, not sure who is in charge or what is going on here.

^Insane.

Tremont butchered first and now Ohio City.

Reminder what was done in Tremont: https://fox8.com/2018/08/01/tree-trimming-causing-outrage-in-tremont-neighborhood/

Someone in Ohio City should let Portland, Oregon know they can extend their “Stumptown” branding over to us. (Even though Portland probably now has a magnitude more trees than the Forest City of Cleveland).

And they'll keep doing this until we bury the wires.

All these trees keep getting chopped down in the Forest City:

@MuRrAy HiLL & @ytown2ctown Is this what you're referring to?  If so, it is for the Red Line Greenway's construction.....

Hi guys - if anyone in and around Ohio City needs or wants dirt, I've got about 10-12 wheel barrels worth in my front yard. It'll be available until tomorrow afternoon - if it's not taken by then I'm pitching it. Let me know if you're interested.

Story after story confirming what terrible people they are.

Pretty sure if one of us spoke to the CPD like that, we’d be getting some follow up. Just another below-average rich guy, living off a fortune handed to him on a plate, thinking he’s beyond the law.
