Anyone got any good bar recommendations? Preferably somewhere near Logan Square, or at least off the Blue Line. I checked out the Green Eye Lounge the other night and really liked it. Very cozy joint.

Im a brown line type of guy.  What are you looking for?

My recomondation to be a local tourist is to check out Southport Ave.  Hit Schuba's, Schoolyard, Southport Lanes, Mystic Celt, Coobah,

(I used to live there and worked at Schuba's)

If you like live music, you HAVE to check out Schuba's

Yeah, I hear Schuba's a pretty good venue. I actually have been to the Mystic Celt and thought it sucked. Sounds like a cool Irish bar, looks like a cool Irish bar, but it's not a cool Irish bar. I went to a special event that they held in the back, but just walking through the front of the bar and hearing Nelly blasting on the soundsystem and seeing the popped collar douchebags trying to dance made me want to vomit.

*oh yeah, try to avoid weekend nights.

There used to be a fun little gay bar on Ontario Street, just off Michigan Avenue.  A second store bar...never saw one like that before here in Ohio.

We've talked about that bar before. It's called, "the second story" bar!  LOL

It's a true dive to the 10th power!

^ Yes, a true dive bar!  BTW, the old Gentry downtown on State St is open again and called "Downtown".

The Hideout is always one of the best places in Chicago. Intructions from the website:

From the CTA Blue Line:

get off at the Damen stop

(North, Damen & Milwaukee)

If you come out of the station, turn left & you’re on Damen, walking toward North Avenue.

At North avenue (about 40 feet) ride the North Avenue bus or walk eastbound on North.

If you come out of the weird little staircase where there’s no station, you’re on the north side of North Avenue, so cross the street to the south side to get on the bus, or start walking eastbound, crossing Damen.

Get off the bus at Elston or make a left onto Elston (northbound) & walk 2 blocks.

Make a right on Wabansia (east) & walk ’till you see the Old Style sign peeking out from behind the tree.
