I visited the Motor City YET AGAIN on October 23, came down for a Red Wings game, little bowling, good food, hotel accommodations at the Renaissance Center and an art tour to go with it.

Without further ado, here's another one of my fine Detroit tours...

Then Tomas Holmstrom ties it at 3-3, after standing in front of the goalie and re-deflecting it in!

Hope you all enjoyed it!!! Part two coming soon with more of Midtown, and the Detroit Institute of Arts! :D

Yup. That's the Detroit I've seen too.  Detroit's problems are very severe and complex.  But it's also very apparent that the worst has passed.  There are STILL so many assets in and around Detroit it's unfathomable to me how beautiful it must've been in the 50s.  The Woodward corridor is about to boom, and if I were a developer, I'd be prepping some high end apartments for Brush Park.

Thank you for the tour, and more importantly thank you for making an effort to see as much of the beauty as possible.

A castle-like apartment building bombed out, however the trees add colour to it...

74063_10150323238005002_744720001_15389452_7289307_n.jpg

Sadly, this building is a goner.  The front half was destroyed by a fire and the rest of was demolished.

I know, I read about that, good thing I took a picture of that. Brush Park has potential and is in such an ideal location, but, man, when you get careless homeless guys or even arsonists around these buildings, things like that are bound to happen. Travesty.

Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers

That doesn't look like Comerica Park lol

^ It does now, thanks for the correction!

Awesome, awesome stuff.  Brush Park looks like a fascinating mix of total desolation and rehab.  Thanks!

God save Detroit

Great stuff!

Nice!  Glad to see some midtown shots.  I'm sad this building burned down and has been demolished:

I meant to post this a while ago but where did you hear this building is to be demolished?  I recently got into that building, I was keeping any eye on it for a while.

^ That building is not being demolished.  That was a rumor started years ago after residents were evicted and the building conversion flopped.

But it's not going anywhere soon.  The asking price is absolutely outrageous for a building in that condition or even the land....

Who owns it?

It's not? I guess I must have gotten that building confused with Cass Tech. Sorry, my bad.

I see a similarity between this building:
