Posted February 9, 201114 yr I hate to start a new thread about this but does anyone know if 668 is still at 100% occupancy? I put myself on a waiting list back in May 2010. Since then I’ve left 3 messages and sent 2 emails to see if they had any availability but no one has bothered to call back. Seems like poor customer service even if there’s no availability. Has anyone spoken to 668 management recently? Are they still 100% occupied?
February 9, 201114 yr If this is true I hope this is sending a loud and clear message to K and D (and other developers). Of course I am sure they want to do other projects (aren't they still interested in Ameritrust?) but don't want to over extended themselves which is just smart business.
February 12, 201114 yr I moved to Cleveland in late August and when i called them in July they told me there was 1 unit available. I then called back a couple days later and it was gone... They then put me on "the list" but i've never gotten an email or call since then. I think they have enough people calling or walking in that taking the time to go through the waiting list every time a unit becomes available is not worth it. If someone was on the list for 6 months and a unit comes up, chances are when they call that person up and say we've got a unit, that person has already committed to another lease elsewhere. I'm sure there's a list, but my guess is it keeps getting added to and rarely subtracted from.
February 12, 201114 yr Regardless that is poor management. It would take very little effort to develop a dedicated email list of these individuals and they could simply send out weekly communications with updates. Even if the initial party is no longer interested there is a good chance they may know someone that is.
February 12, 201114 yr I don't think it's poor management. They'd have to constantly add and subtract from this list you want to see so that they could constantly let people know what? That they still don't have anything for them? If you're on the list, they'll let you know when they've got a unit that matches what you've requested. What else would you want?
February 12, 201114 yr They could just keep adding email addresses and let people unsubscribe if they so choose via an embedded link. The email would serve as a newsletter and not just for posting availabilities.

Maybe a return email when somebody sends several like the person that started this thread.... Id say poor management (lacking common courtesy to say the least)... February 13, 201114 yr I ended up walking in and talking to them. They said at this point the waiting list is 300 long but I’m sure many on that list have already moved on. I’m not sure how much I believe it though as they asked when I’d be interested in moving in. Why even ask if there are 300 waiting before me? I’ve also seen others on this website mention 668 when comparing other apts as if 668 had something available. They also said 1bedrooms were starting at $950 + parking which is more than what’s listed on their website. In my opinion (I could be wrong) is that they are just using a “list” to pressure walk-ins to rent at inflated prices on the spot… just my own opinion though.

Actually since it is a conversion, room sizes can vary greatly and things are less uniform. If you look at their website, they have some one bedroom apartments at $799 a month and others at over $1000.

The smallest 1bedrooms were at 950 and their studios at 850. It’s off my list though….
February 13, 201114 yr Well they better update their website since they have to honer the advertised price.
February 13, 201114 yr I ended up walking in and talking to them. They said at this point the waiting list is 300 long but I’m sure many on that list have already moved on. If that full list is current, that's a 25- to 30-story building's worth of residents. If only half of that list is current, that would still fill the previously proposed residential component of the Breuer Tower. :-D "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
February 15, 201114 yr When I signed my lease they were still building out, but the prospect side was finished. I grabbed one of the last units, an efficiency, that was available. They confirmed when I moved out recently that there was a long waiting list (100+). I don't believe they use this as a scare tactic, it's just the way it is right now, and it's a really nice place to live and in demand. There is a great gym (Titan's) that offers a free first year of membership for residents, and the bar (Caddyshack) downstairs started off shakey but seems to be coming around. The rent went up this year, as you noticed the discrepency from the website. They do offer discounted rents if you work for certain downtown businesses (this saved me about $50 a month and also a free month of rent). Parking is $90 monthly at the attached garage, but you don't have to use it; you can get a cheaper rate if you don't mind walking to other garages or lots (I ended up leaving my car at a friend's house off of Fulton because I hardly ever needed it, having a CSU ID for free public transport) .

I recently had a friend who was looking for a two bedroom at 668 and was turned away. I'm sure Douglas Price is VERY aware of the pent up demand for downtown rentals!

June 4, 201114 yr Old thread, but as someone moving into 668 - I thought I'd respond! They gave me the "wait list" speech, too, but it sounded like they'd prefer to give out a place to whoever bugs them the most rather than going through contacting people on a wait list. We were lucky enough to be able to schedule a viewing and I followed up with emails after we decided we'd like to move in. Since then, I've made a deposit on a place and we're due to move in no later than August 1st! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions... Although I haven't moved in yet, I've certainly spent a decent amount of time in the area and took the time to meet the owner/bartenders at Caddyshack! Cheers, Joe
June 6, 201114 yr I do like it! I can't think of any tips right off hand, but if you have a question or want to know where something is in the neighborhood, don't hesitate to ask.
June 6, 201114 yr Hmmm... I guess only question would be, do you ever take the bus from Public Square out to Detroit Shoreway, Edgewater, University Circle, or Lakewood to hang out at night and back? If so, how long does it take? A car would obviously be quicker, but I'm hoping to use the Public Square buses a lot to encourage other young folks to ditch the car for the bus! Cheers, Joe
June 6, 201114 yr I live in Detroit Shoreway and often take the bus downtown for dinner or events. 15 minute ride and the 26 runs every 1/2 hour or so....the 45 also comes in from Parma and turns right onto Detriot at 65th. You can also make the walk 1/2 mile from detroit and w 65th to the rapid stop near St. Colemans. I have even waited to take the bus back to D/S as late as midnight, but will often get a cab...10 bucks for a cab ride. hope this helps Tremont is the same cab ride with much less frequent/reliable bus service. Ohio city is a piece of cake with the train and numerous bus lines. The 26 runs all the way down detroit and either turns where around the corner is at the lakewood/RR border or continues to where westgate is at Center Ridge and Wagar Rd.......this ride can take upwards of an hour. The 55 ends up there as well with many fewer stops along the way, and runs Clifton. Detroit has many more bars/restuarants/stores than clifton.
June 6, 201114 yr Having 24 hour bus service along Detroit is great for Downtown, and Lakewood, and everywhere in between. It's slow and they get sparse late at night, but the bottom line is you always have a way to get home. And that's awesome.
June 6, 201114 yr Joe, Here's a schedule for the #26 on Detroit... http://www.riderta.com/pdf/26.pdf You can also take the Red Line to the West Boulevard or West 117th stations and walk. Other principal bus routes from Public Square to the West Side are: #20 on Detroit-Superior/W.25th/Broadview-State via Ohio City #22 on Detroit-Superior/W.25th/Lorain via Ohio City #25 on Detroit-Superior/W.25th/Bridge/Madison via Ohio City #51 on Ontario/Lorain/W.25th/Pearl #81 on Detroit-Superior/W.25th/Abbey/Tremont/Steelyard Commons All rail and bus schedules are at: http://www.riderta.com/schedules/ If you're going to Steelyard Commons, take the #81 trips starting at 8:15 p.m. weekdays. They are much faster because they don't go via Lakeview Terrace or West 7th. And the #81 runs 24 hours a day...... http://www.riderta.com/pdf/81.pdf "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
June 7, 201114 yr I've taken the 26 from Downtown Cleveland to Downtown Lakewood. It's a very slow ride, but doable, and very interesting people watching at 3:00 AM. The Healthline to U Circle is better, almost competitive in speed with taking a car. The Green/Blue Lines are nice for going to Shaker Square/Shaker Heights as well.
