Posted January 7, 200619 yr From the 1/3/06 Dayton Business Journal: Arts Center completes fund drive Yvonne Teems DBJ Staff Reporter The Dayton Visual Arts Center completed its campaign to fund its new gallery and workshop space, raising more than $650,000 in the past year. The center's campaign started last January to raise funds for a renovated space and for an endowment fund, which the organization has never had. The board pledged to raise a total of $50,000 -- or 10 percent of the original goal of $500,000 -- from each of its 24 members, said Jane Black, the center's executive director. With each of the members participating, the board raised $80,000. January 15, 200619 yr The sleek look of Dayton Visual Art Center's new entrance belies the traditional feel of the old Bindery Building on North Jefferson Street as if to say, "Hey, look at me!" The 26-inch-high steel letters in DVAC's contemporary logo jump out at passers-by, offset by 385 square feet of storefront glass and a bright orange-red brick facade. I was driving down Jefferson the other day and it definitely stood out and caught my attention. At their previous location in the lobby of the 40 West Fourth Tower or whatever it is called, you really had no idea it was there looking at it from the street.
