Though I rarely post them my pictures, I am "urban exploring" in Detroit once or twice a week.  By far, my favorite thing is to go up to the roofs.  Here I am on top of a building in Southwest Detroit.

Nice shots.  I love how the Detroit River is always so blue.  The Ohio River is blue for about 2 months a yr, and the rest of the time its an ugly brown.

That's from the old Boblo Terminal, correct?

Thanks for sharing. As blighted as Detroit is, I love visiting that city. Just riding through the abandoned areas of the city and witnessing the history of the city gives me a feeling that is exclusive to Detroit. I have an older relative who was an auto worker there who tells me stories about how  Detroit was the place to be; how crowded, vibrant, and essential it was to America. I have family members who migrated to Detroit from the south, got jobs in the auto factories and died happy middle class citizens in Detroit . It's sad that just 60 'short' years ago, Detroit was a bustling city that people flocked to with a population of close to 2 million residents. Now whatever is still standing of Detroit is all but a crumbling and/or burnt out shell of what it used to be.
