Well, whoever they replace him with, I hope the new person will focus on what's really important: whether or not Johnny manziel will be on the Browns next year. Why aren't people talking about this? Wake up, sheeple!!

Word is Kevin Kiley has resigned from 92.3 The Fan. Thank God! I found him insulting, arrogant, not entertaining and, worse, not informative. I really like Ken Carmen but I stopped listening to him when he was moved to the morning show and paired with Kiley. I'm looking forward to hearing Carmen again!

BTW, the reason for Kiley's departure likely stems from his sexist criticism of the Buffalo Bills' hiring of a female coach and pushback from advertisers...

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/01/24/cabot-seeks-discipline-of-cleveland-radio-host/

I have to disagree Ken.  While Kiley and Booms were both radical with their views at times, insulting, pompous, bull headed...that was pure comedy.  I would laugh so hard I would cry at times.  Now both of them said things that you don't like, but personally I don't want snoozers on the radio that just echo what I feel about a topic.  I can have those conversations with my friends.  I want to laugh and be entertained.  It took a major hit when Booms got fired, and now Carman in the mornings will certainly not get any listenership from me.

So I get why you don't like them, but why you don't like them is frankly the only reason I listened.

My sources said Kiley lived out of a hotel during the week and left town every weekend...then eventually got an apartment...but still left most every weekend.

Unlike Adam the Bull and Goldhammer, who have actually taken up residence in NEO and seem to enjoy living there.

In other words, Kiley was ready to leave the market for good.

I'll miss some of his routine, but I really hope Lima joins Ken Carman.

I found nothing funny about Kiley (or Booms). I wanted to punch both of them. Both are inherently defective humans. They got their comeuppance.

I'd love to see Ken Carmen return to the evenings with Kenny Kidd. They were raunchy, especially after 10 pm when they could turn it up a notch. But that's not a high-ratings time for radio, and Ken Carmen is a rising star which is why he was moved to the morning with Kiley. But I miss Carmen in the evenings and his raunchy shtick.

I had no idea he was still on the air? I know Roda is on some small station.....but the last I saw Drennan was his post Indians tv show. Is that still on?

Fox sports sto replied to my comment on their fbook page in mid January saying they were changing studios... how long does that take?

Ken Carmen is now doing a national show for CBS Sports. Pretty good so far. I'm kinda mixed on his show for on 92.3 The Fan.

So that makes two 92.3 personalities with a nationwide audience. Adam "The Bull" has a nationally syndicated baseball show, also on CBS Radio.

I'm sure both guys are happy to not have to talk Browns, at least for a day.

That station surely has all the radio talent in our city. The other one certainly has a lot of wasted, unproductive, dead air

I'm sure The Bull is. But Ken Carmen bleeds orange & brown. Maybe you remember this?

I still like a couple of people on 850 but 92.3 is so much better.  It helps that they focus on sports.

RIP Kendall Lewis, the "BSK"

Remembering 'The BSK' Kendall Lewis: A force of Cleveland sports talk

Dave "Dino" DeNatale , WKYC 7:35 PM. EDT April 12, 2017

his is one story that is EXTREMELY difficult to write. But it's a tribute that's worth telling.

On Tuesday, while many of us in the Cleveland sports journalism business were watching the Indians battle the White Sox on Opening Day at Progressive Field, we found out that Kendall Lewis had passed away. His nephew Benjamin confirmed the news on social media.

^ Sad. The last time I heard him on the air he did not sound well.

Remember his theme music? Etched in my mind forever!

RIP BSK. I've never understood why we don't have more African-American sports talkers in general and especially in Cleveland.

Agree. My theory is that radio tends to value existing listeners over trying to win over potential new listeners. It's a good recipe for a death spiral.

We definitely need more African Americans on sports talk in Cleveland... I don't get it because sports craziness, whether you're Black, White, Latino, gay, straight, etc., is infectious in this town.  Everywhere I go around town, people of all races are always talking Cleveland sports.... And there are tons of knowledgeable Black sports guys who we only scratch the surface of -- consider Andre Knott over who's on TV and does some time at right-wing radio, WTAM... in Cleveland it's so extreme, we've even had Hiram who is just a caller, but one who was so knowledgeable and interesting (opinionated), that one of the stations brought him in to co-host some shows.  Hiram is controversial, but knowledgeable.  And just like Kendall, whether you loved or hated him, he has a strong personality.

These kids that they keep grooming at 92.3 -- all of them are White -- just seem milquetoast and cookie cutter -- hard to tell one from the next (Chris Fedor, who's now over 30 is a bit different and I like him).  Back in the earlier days of WKNR when when Lewis was coming up you had guys like Kenny Roda, Bruce Drennan, Michael Reghi, Greg Brinda and the late Geoff Sindelar, just to name a few -- all strong personalities.  Cleveland sports talk today is boring by comparison; we're all the lesser in losing Kendall Lewis.

. in Cleveland it's so extreme, we've even had Hiram who is just a caller, but one who was so knowledgeable and interesting (opinionated), that one of the stations brought him in to co-host some shows.

Personally, I think that there's a direct inverse correlation between the number of on-air callers on a talk show and the quality of same.  Even many years ago, Jim Rome openly said "more me, less you is a good thing".

But keep in mind that Trivisonno started out as a caller and that will impact the hiring practices of Cleveland stations.

I'm not saying that's a good thing -- frankly nobody realized what a lowlife Mike Trivisonno was when he was merely "Mr. Know-it-all" the caller, and would have preferred it if he had remained just a cranky caller.  My point is that Cleveland sports talk is so lily-white male that one station recruited a caller to be a host rather than extend opportunities to African Americans and others who not only are qualified, but are extremely passionate about Cleveland sports.

Leaving aside the dismissal of Andre Knott because he doesn’t fit the “profile”,  Trivasanno has to be considered one of the most successful talk show hosts in Cleveland history.  Perceptions of him as a “lowlife” (my understanding is IRL he’s nothing of the sort) nonwithstanding.  Gary Dee wasn’t exactly a role model either and those two probably top the list in Cleveland history.

Anthony Lima also was just a caller. He then went on to be special segment announcer for the afternoon Bull & Fox show at The Fan, and now is a co-host for the sought-after morning time slot with Ken Carman (my favorite sports radio host in Cleveland).

If you like a somewhat different approach try Golden and Cherry on WKNR during the PM.

Didn't like them at first but they've grown on me.

Actually love the Lima/Carman show but the only bad thing is that both are young...kind of hard for them to talk about the Coliseum days (I grew up in Richfield) when they were barely toddlers during its final years of existence ?

And...I happened to actually enjoy the movie Draft Day for what it was...and find it HILARIOUS that nearly everyone on 92.3 goes out of their way to trash it...especially Adam the Bull.

Believe me, if Bull and Fox were in the movie as much as Rizz and Hammer it'd be the best movie since Godfather for them.

Which is why I can relate better to Jeff Thomas and Andy Baskin. They're my age and share the same memories as I do. But I happen to like Carman's intelligence, sense of humor, interviews, and the way he handles the callers.

Trivisonno is scum; clearly lowbrow radio.  And he's following the Cleveland time-worn tradition that racial/bigoted radio boosts ratings.  Great for the bottom line; bad for the City.

The man weighs 400 lbs., smokes two packs a day, did not graduate from high school, and continues to sport a mullet well into the 2000s... I don't think anyone should take him seriously.

Triv is representative of a quickly becoming bygone era of Cleveland culture.  I have a few 'one degree of separation' connections to him and he's not quite the blowhard in real life that he plays on the radio.  A little more introverted than you might expect.  I actually have bigger issues with his co-hosts, who are the types to act tough but are scared of their own shadows.  I love it when Triv picks on them for being scared of the east side.

I actually liked Triv's show circa 1995 when it was 1. focused on sports and 2. emphasized Marty Allen, Paul Rado and Mike Snyder.

This Golden Era lasted a year maybe?

Then they brought in Kim to be like Robin on the Stern show, a foil of sorts. She had no knowledge of anything interesting and generally bad at radio.

I also miss Kevin Keene. His 1100 postgame shows were always entertaining. "Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends...."

^Yes, I've long heard that Trivisonno views himself as a poor man's Howard Stern.  I believe his co-host at the was Kim Mihalik, who, as you note, played the Robin Quivers role... Thing is, as crude as Stern can be, he is actually kinda funny ... to me at least.  Stern is a classic shock-jock, but his big thing is sex, sexual innuendo.  He's not mean spirited and bigoted like Trivisonno (of course, Robin is African American).  Allen and Rado were mildly funny, especially Rado with his Art Modell shtick.

Oh yeah, he's a lot like Rush Limbaugh in that regard.  Very set in his ways though, he's one of the main reasons WTAM is still in Independence.  He's as anti-downtown as the co-hosts are anti-east side.

Don't discount him, though.  His IRL introversion comes from listening more than talking, he "knows" so damned many people I think the whole metro area might be 3 degrees of separation or less, and he's often saying what the PTB are thinking but can't say out loud.  He's one of the few people "Rush is another" that are basically immune to "political correctness" because they clearly don't give a damn about it.

I often find his show unlistenable, but quality does not equal success, especially in a dying medium like broadcast radio.

ESPN parts ways with radio personality after controversial Jabrill Peppers comments

Former Michigan standout Jabrill Peppers was seen as a possibility to fall in the 2017 NFL Draft and one of the reasons stemmed from a diluted sample at the NFL Combine. However, Peppers landed on his feet as a first round pick of the Cleveland Browns and that was seemingly a positive end to the story.

With that said, a radio host on ESPN 850 in Cleveland did not exactly see it that way, as Awful Announcing brings word that Sabrina Parr went after Peppers. The host suggested that Peppers is “high all the time” and, in addition, indicated that the All-American is “on the lean and the molly” even at this stage.

The audio can be found below:

Wasn't that the same lady who was fired years ago from RBS for going on a homophobic rant?

Apparently she wasn't fired but reprimanded. RBS is on WKNR which is ESPN 850.

Plus there was this altercation.....

Right.  Same station.  But she has been gone for years, right?  When did she come back and when was she on?

About 10 years ago. Maybe less.

Sorry, I thought you were asking about the Braylon Edwards altercation. Wow, she's got some recurring issues.

Whew, I was afraid it was a real host at the station.

I don't remember a homophobic rant specifically, but in the past she did have some kind of mental breakdown on the air, throwing things around the studio and screaming at everyone.

Sabrina was always unprofessional and, in hindsight, may have been brought back simply for the inevitable shock value.

^I know she was a witness when Braylon Edwards punched out one of LeBron's associates at a club several years ago during the LeBron I era.  She was dating one of the Browns at the time.  She has some kind of online health/fitness business.  Apparently trouble follows her.
