Taken from the old forum.  This is JRC's thread, not mine!

The Mahoning Commons is an area just west of downtown Youngstown along Mahoning Ave. from the river to Fellows Riverside Gardens.  This is also where the first settlers in the area set up camp.

Today and tomorrow, the Mahoning Commons Spring Fest is taking place along this corridor.

Mahoning Commons Fest is a biannual event that has incorporated a majority of the businesses located on/near Mahoning Avenue in downtown Youngstown, Ohio.

Inspired by the biannual Open Studio Sale held at the Ward Bakery, the business owners banned together to create a unique event that promotes the betterment of the Mahoning Commons district and encouraging the expansion of the Arts & Entertainment district in Youngstown.

I decided to take my camera along.

I would have liked to take more interior shots at the Ward Bakery Building, but some people can be sensitive to having a stranger take photos of their artwork.

There aren't a lot of residential structures in this area.

The Calvin Center.  I just learned today that it was built in 1902 as a city school.  Later, it was a religious facility.  Recently it was bought, and the old classroom and chapel spaces are rented out as studios.

Next door to the church is this neat little street.  It was completely intact until a few years ago. :(

I never noticed how many small businesses there are on this stretch of Mahoning Ave.  Everything from light industrial, to wholesale food.

There were more participating businesses all the way to the Lemon Grove downtown, but I stopped here.  I could have used the free trolley:

but I was never in the right place at the right time, and my feet were getting tired.

Thanks for reposting it!

I like the Ward building especially.

No, you're fine. New threads and posts that were made during May 1-5 were lost when the admins decided to restore the old forum. That's all. Any threads and posts made May 1-5 can be looked for and reposted if someone really, really wants it reposted.
