Posted May 11, 201114 yr I went to Toledo (again) from May 6-8, 2011. It's my third time in 2 years visiting the city and it was, once again, an awesome time. Took in the Erie Street Market, a couple of Mud Hens games and the Toledo Museum of Art. Without further ado... the first part of my photo tour, we start in the Erie Street Market, home to the Toledo Farmer's Weekend Market, and the Libbey Glass Outlet Store... Sign for the markets on Summit and Lafayette streets Erie Street Market sign... Toledo Farmer's Market, these were taken on a beautiful warm Saturday morning... Back entrance to the Farmer's Market Libbey Glass Factory Outlet, bought my mom some glasses (drinking) for Mother's Day. BTW, Libbey Glass is headquartered in Toledo. Inside the Glass Store... On this shelf, you'll find glasses with about every team possible, except Toledo Mud Hens and Walleye, they're at the Swamp Shop... Toledo Warehouse district in bloom... Owens-Corning Headquarters on the Riverfront and the Anthony Wayne Suspension Bridge... Downtown Toledo, looking east... Downtown buildings... One Seagate, tallest building in the city... Downtown from the Cherry Street bridge... HCR Manor Care building... ToledoEdison building... Riverfront Apartments Fiberglas Tower, second tallest, hopefully soon to be renovated, it's in the city's budget. Fifth Third Field, home of the Toledo Mud Hens from my room @ the Park Inn downtown... Huntington Center, home of the Toledo Walleye, ECHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks. PizzaPapalis, Detroit-based chain specializing in Chicago-style deep dish pizza, ate here the night before, is it EVER GOOD! Tony Packo's, a Toledo institution, made famous by Toledo-native Jamie Farr's character, Max Klinger on M*A*S*H... their food is great!
May 12, 201114 yr Toledo looks decent in sunshine, as compared with the Lake Erie drearies that prevail through much of the colder season. Dowtown has a lot of big, imposing older buildings, but the vacancy rate is just sad. I hope they can start turning it around before the urban fabric gets any more holes in it. I like the Libbey outlet store. For less than $20. I got four each of two different styles of old-fashioned soda fountain ice cream dishes and four 16-ounce clear-glass coffee mugs.

May 12, 201114 yr Nice pics, especially for Toledo. I'm not saying that as joke. Toledo has a lot of potential, but I find the city to have a very depressing feel. Probably comes from the fact that every time I go there, it always seems to dreary. The first time I went, which was July 09, it was 63 degrees with light rain. Now that image of Toledo is stuck with me. Toledo is a decent city, but it has a vacant and depressing vibe to it, which makes the place unpleasant to visit IMO. You did happen to catch a nice sunny day however, so that makes a difference.
May 15, 201114 yr Great photos - I want to make a trip to Toledo sometime, just for the art museum alone. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
May 15, 201114 yr Great Pics! Looks like you have been enjoying Toledo! There are alot of hidden gems there. I have always enjoyed the city. The only problem I have with the CBD is it seems to turn over about every 5 years. You will find a bar or restaurant that you enjoy, then just like that, it's gone. I guess that hints at the stability of the CBD. I know a guy that opened a restaurant there called Table 45. He said he does pretty well on weekends, but the weekdays are very rough. He's hoping for a very good baseball summer season.
