Not much to say about Howe (formerly Lima)

 

You're right. About a half mile out of town is Howe Military Academy, for students in grades 7 - 12. It's been around for more than 100 years and is one of the few remaining military schools in the country.

I saw in the third photo that it was the first LaGrange County seat!  I've been there, having taken IN 120 westward from the Michigan border to IN 9 southward (wanted to avoid South Bend for a Notre Dame home game; it was an October day).  I had lunch at some restaurant on the square whose name I forget.

loving these -- very small villages have a certain charm to them.

 

if that last shot is the town square, then good for them to have trees, a covered picnic bench area and a play area for kids. often a town square is way too formal or just grass and a monument. this one is actually useful!
